About us
Anthropy®™ is a major three day gathering for leaders. It grew out of the fusion of ideas for a UK ‘Davos’, a ‘Glastonbury of Good’ and a national ‘Ted talk’. It is in fact none of these but will combine the best aspects of thought leadership, creativity and inspiration together, in order for senior leaders and influencers from across the country to share and be encouraged to play their part in shaping our national narrative. The Covid period and how we move forward, offers a unique opportunity and moment in time to think differently and create the means to inspire change. It affords a chance to re-assess as a nation what we value and what values we will embrace to create new thinking to tackle long standing challenges. We seek to put aside what divides us as we all go about our good works to build a better, more harmonious and human centric future. Our Approach We are asking four questions about the qualities which we wish to see influencing our futures and the qualities we then contribute to the world. These are our four ‘pillars’ of interest 👩🏻🤝👨🏾People👉🏻What quality of life do we wish to see over the next 30 years? 🏡 Place👉🏻 What qualities of place are required for this quality of life? 💷 Prosperity👉🏻 What are the qualities of a ‘good economy’ to support our aspirations? 🌍 Global Perspective👉🏻 What qualities do we represent to the world to help solve shared issues?

Anthropy UK reposted this
A shout out this evening to the incredible work of Anthropy UK member Coram , the UKs oldest children’s charity. Sharing the brilliant words of Jessica Taplin who has summed up the evening so perfectly. Could you spare any time to read with a child in school who doesn’t have the luxury of an adult to read with them at home? Or to visit a child in care who has no adult to take an interest in them? Consider volunteering with Coram to help make a difference to those who are starting life in difficult circumstances. Such acts of kindness can be truly life changing
Just had the privilege of attending the Coram #inspiringwomeninbusiness evening - and hearing from three inspiring female leaders. Heard #NicolaHorlick #superwoman speak in person and I was not disappointed, inspirational to hear her career journey, but also the searing honesty and anguish of a mother whose 12 year old daughter died. Then there was the just #awesome Rachel Malik, who was so transparent about her journey - the self doubt, growing up in care, the ambition and what drove her to overcome the challenges - there was self appreciation, self depreciation, humour and boldness (and a strong loving grandma!) And of course the inimitable Dr Carol Homden CBE who as ever is insightful, compelling and dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and young people. But what was the evening about, well really it was about #CareExperienced #Youngpeople and the amazing work of Coram - to raise awareness of the #challenges facing #children and young peeople - especially those who are care experienced; and to get people talking and thinking. Worth reading an evaluation of New Belongings Coram 2022 shines a light on what worked and what could work better - within it there is a section on #financialwellbeing. Care leavers were asked if they were coping financially - in 2020 one in six responded they were finding it quite or very difficult financially. By 2022 this had risen to one in five, a quick bit of research shows it’s now worse. Household where the oldest occupant is under 25 are flagged in the #fuelpoverty statistics as disproportionately affected. It takes a village to raise a child, it also takes #collaboration #sharedaspiration to help find solutions that lead to positive societal shifts in how we support the younger members of our shared society. There were people from across the sectors there tonight, those I spoke to recognise the way forward is bringing our skills, voices and expertise together. Shout out to #anthropy ! The importance of small acts of kindness reverberated through the evening. With thanks to AllBright Townhouse and Dr Carol Homden CBE #antipoverty #healthinequality #careleavers #careexperienced

Sharing for those in the #Anthropy network who may be a perfect fit in this role 👇 #Anthropists #ResponsibleBusiness #SocialValue
It seems that Responsible Business and Social Value are core in our new government - but they need some expert help to drive it across government. Could it be you? ✅Already the new Secretary of State for Business & Trade Jonathan Reynolds MP has indicated his belief that social value in procurement can drive community wellbeing, and improve staff wellbeing and productivity. ✅And his new sidekick the Minister for Business is none other than Douglas Alexander MP, one of our first ministers for corporate responsibility back in the noughties (@the bitc alumni network may remember him!). He championed the role that business can play in society, and spent much of the intervening years in the charity sector. ✅Rachel Reeves’ powerful speech at Anthropy UK talked about the importance of the public private and third sector for the future of Britain. ✅In the MOJ, the appointment of Minister for Prisons @jamestcobbler has already made headlines, as he brings his experience as a compassionate and profitable business leader to the challenges in the justice sector. ✅And if all that is not enough – the call is already out for someone to really help shape our government’s approach on Social Value - and this time - it’s right in the cabinet office. I know there’s some really talented and experienced Social Value professionals out there in my network, who understand the nuances of embedding Social Value in business, and the social value that public procurement can offer to facilitate social change. Wouldn’t it be fab to see a practitioner in this key role? https://lnkd.in/eckMvec6 #socialvalue #socialchange #newministers #responsiblebusiness Social Value UK Bethan Lloyd Olivia Sutcliffe Emma Hope Su Pickerill FICRS Helen Longfils Léyoh Goodall Neil Pearson Louise Townsend FRSA Siân Rebourg (MICRS) Crispen Sachikonye Graham PRECEY Bean Research Ltd Ben Carpenter John O’Brien MBE Cabinet Office julia cleverdon David Grayson Angela Halliday Rosina Watson

Excellent message here from James Alcock concerning their #manifesto and the rural community ownership agenda. As a countryman myself, I will be delighted to see Plunkett UK work with partners and let us invite the new rural minister to join us at #Anthropy25 , as well as engage beforehand to help build new channels of collaboration. The invitation is there, the offer from Anthropy is to provide the time and space for Government to engage👍🏻 Lucy Knill FRSA Ronee Marie Walsh Mark Goyder Charlotte Hollins 👇🏻
📽️ Watch James Alcock, Plunkett UK's Chief Executive Officer, describe how we will continue to champion the needs of the community-owned business sector with a new Government in place after the 2024 General Election - and how our members can take action too. 👇 https://lnkd.in/edmECQ7k Margaret Clark Lucy Knill FRSA John O’Brien MBE

Our recent research highlighted distinct viewpoints between Anthropists, who have adopted a more longer-term perspective, and the general public, where the issues raised show a need for more immediate actions. When asked, 'What do you see as the single most important issue facing the UK today?' 32% of Anthropists identified it as pollution, the environment and climate change. However, when the same question was posed to citizens, the public research showed the main concern to be inflation and prices. Anthropy UK encourages leaders to think about the longer term future of the UK, and to consider solutions that require collaboration and agreement among multiple stakeholders, even if success requires more time. Likewise, at Anthropy, we recognise that the priorities of the general public are of a more immediate nature, with a focus on the economic and social issues which impact daily lives. We are therefore determined to facilitate these priorities into our ongoing activities and the agenda for the next national gathering in March 2025.
