Amwins Global Risks set up a stall for London Market Group's first Futures Academy Careers Fair at Lloyd’s of London, and it was great to chat with so many young people thinking about a career in the insurance industry. Lots of great questions asked and conversations had, and we wish the attendees all the best of luck with their exams and in their future endeavours. Thank you to London Insurance Life, Lloyd's, and the AGR Learning & Development and Talent & Acquisition teams for a great event.

In honour of Pride Month in June, AGR recently hosted a presentation called How to be an Effective LGBTQIA Ally where we had an informative discussion about topics including gender identity and sexual orientation, how to create an inclusive workplace environment, and ways of advocating for LGBTQIA rights. Thank you to Josephine Bloomfield, Ade Nelder, Jonathan Emptage, Sarah Maher Cert CII, Charlotte Tupper and everyone who made this educational session possible.

AGR Energy brokers hosted Lloyd's of London underwriters at The Addington Golf Club on 4th July and a great day was had by all. We were blessed with the weather and whilst the high-quality greens offered up some challenging golf, players were treated to some spectacular views on the way round and in particular of the City of London in the far distance. Prizes for the day were won by Charlie Compton (longest drive), Max Poynter (nearest the pin) and thankfully the biggest prize of the day went to an underwriter Matthew Holmes of Dale Underwriting Partners for top Stableford point scorer. Well played sir! The Addington Golf Club once again looked after us well and was a great opportunity to spend some quality time with all our guests who support our business.

This week, we've had the pleasure of welcoming nine interns across different Amwins Global Risks departments, where they will work for two months. They've had a busy few days getting to know their respective AGR teams, as well as learning about the London Market thanks to a tour of Lloyd's. We're looking forward to what the next few weeks have in store! Thank you to Lloyd's and to AGR for making our interns' first week a great one. Best of luck to our interns on starting their new roles!

After 49 years working in the London Market and nearly 7 years at Unicorn, our Underwriting Director, Neil Chapman, will be retiring in 2025. Neil has played a significant role in the organisation; he is responsible for building our Worldwide Property book into a profitable portfolio, with the support of a number of longstanding capacity providers.   With change comes new beginnings, however, and we're excited for Neil to pass the baton over to our Unicorn colleague Lewis Jones 👏 Lewis will be assuming the Underwriting Director role as of 1st July 2024, taking over the Worldwide Property portfolio. There will be a transitional period in which we'll continue benefitting from Neil's expertise.   Lewis is an experienced member of the Unicorn team, with 18 years in the insurance industry under his belt. He has developed strong relationships with our carrier providers and has always been passionate about providing the best service to our brokers, as demonstrated by his desire to establish a box presence in Lloyd's. His support of investing in our tech, operations and data teams over the next 12 months will ensure our underwriters have unrivalled tools to deliver an even more valuable service to our brokers.   We want to wish Lewis all the best in his exciting new role, and to thank Neil for his invaluable contribution to Unicorn Underwriting. It’s fair to say we think Unicorn’s future is bright, and we’re looking forward to the second half of this year!
