Spotlight on Deirdre - Finance Manager Deirdre joined Alternative Heat Ltd 10 years ago as a Commercial Development Manager. Over the years, Deirdre's role has evolved significantly, culminating in her current position as Finance Manager. "I joined the team when the company was heavily involved in the trade biomass market and I was responsible for overseeing the stock management on Exchequer including the organisation and structure of the stock tree, pricing updates and stock takes". "As the Company started to grow, I transitioned to the role of Assistant Accountant where my responsibilities included preparing monthly management accounts, handling weekly and monthly payment runs and administering payroll, to name but a few". "In April 2020, I was promoted to Finance Manager. In this role, I expanded and consolidated the team and oversaw the transition to our new offices". "I am delighted to have been involved in the phenomenal journey with Alternative Heat Ltd over the years and to witness the growth from small rural distributor and installer of boilers and spares to a global competitor in the offsite fabrication market. Wellness Week 24th- 30th June The Alternative Heat Ltd's Social Committee organised a week of activities focused on Physical Health, Mental Health and Nutrition for all staff members. We offered Indian head massages, an introduction to a local Gym, Pilates and Yoga sessions, a physio talk and a nutrition session from The Lean Supper Club. On the back of our recent Highland Council Biomass Service & Maintenance Contract award we have continued to invest within the Highland Region, these vehicles were acquired from Arnold Clarke, Inverness and we are delighted to be able to support local businesses throughout the delivery of this contract. Three months into his new role as a Service and Maintenance Accounts Administrator we catch up with Oisin to see how his first few months have went… How was your initial interview? The interview lasted no more than an hour and you were made to feel at ease from the minute you walked through the front doors, partly due to the amazing welcome the reception team gives. Throughout the interview all questions were relevant and targeted to the role which allowed me to display my ability to do the role in the best light possible. It was an overall great experience, and one which any future employee should embrace and look forward to. What attracted you to AH? It was Alternative Heats reputation in the renewables industry and for being a leading employer in NI. The more I learnt about the company, particularly surrounding the benefits package and career prospects, I knew it was the place I wanted to continue my career in – the company puts people first. What do you enjoy most about working here? From day one, working at Alternative Heat has been great, from the high spec office and facilities to the support and mentoring on offer, it is hard not to enjoy working for the company. What I enjoy most is the people and team culture, everyone is extremely welcoming and they make you feel part of the team from the moment I walked through the door. We spoke with his colleague Joanne who works closely with Oisin who said: “Oisin has settled in really well and has become an integral part of the team. He is very eager to help and learn, the questions he asks show that he has an understanding of what he is being shown but wants to have a deeper knowledge. He has taken on a variety of tasks from Conor, Andrea and myself and he communicates well with everyone.
