  • Spotlight On: On-Site Congress Support 💼  Medical congresses mark key milestones throughout the MedComms calendar.  These congresses are a perfect opportunity to present new data and educate audiences on specific therapy areas or treatments.  Medical writers play many roles at congresses, from content development for abstracts, posters and slide decks, to on-site reporting of key data. Last month, we were asked to attend a European congress on bone health and report on the data of interest presented. We took detailed notes from the pre-selected scientific presentations and checked out the posters on display. After collating and analysing the information, we generated a summary report which focused on the key areas of intelligence relevant to our client’s needs. 🙌🏻 Read more in our case report here 👉 https://lnkd.in/e8vpF6Hx Do you need support with congress reporting? • Fi’s First Few Months 📆 We’re thrilled that Fi is finding her feet in her new role as Principal Medical Writer. It seems like only yesterday that Fi joined, but she’s already achieved a huge amount, slotting perfectly into the team and impressing clients. Our friendly, inclusive culture meant Fi was welcomed with open arms. We’ve lost track of the amount of coffee chats we’ve racked up! And Fi proved she could walk the walk, taking part in our Spring Step Count Challenge (but didn’t realise just how competitive we were). 😉 Since completing her initial company training, she’s worked on a number of projects, including: 🌟 A handover from Laura, who took maternity leave last month 🌟 Authoring the first draft of a manuscript for a non-clinical mRNA toxicology study 🌟 Submitting a response to journal comments for a Phase 3 study manuscript 🌟 Pitching a publication plan to a client, with wonderful feedback You’re off to a fantastic start, Fi. Keep it up! #AlchemyMedicalWriting #MedicalWriting #PrincipalMedicalWriter

  • Skill Swap with Frontier Science Scotland  🔬 We love a good knowledge exchange. And we’re always in awe of the fantastic work the not-for-profit contract research organisation, Frontier Science Scotland (FSS), undertakes. So, when our strategic partner dropped by to upskill the A-Team on Statistical Concepts in Clinical Trials, we couldn’t get our notepads out quick enough. Led by Head of Biostatistics, Dr Shona Fielding, the training gave clear explanations and examples of different statistical concepts, relating them to the clinical trial process and interpretation of study results.  We learned all about: 🗒 What a statistical analysis plan is and the importance of this document 📈 Parametric vs non-parametric data distribution, including when to use mean vs median 👩💻 Odds ratios, risk ratios, hazard ratios, and how to interpret them 📊 Interpreting Kaplan-Meier graphs and understanding what censoring means To return the favour, we’ll be teaching FSS all about the medical writer’s role in the development of clinical trial documents, publications, and medical communications. Thank you so much to FSS and Dr Shona Fielding for their time and specialist knowledge!  #AlchemyMedicalWriting #MedicalWriting #ClinicalTrialsTraining

  • Crowning Our Step Challenge Champions 👑 All work and no walk make for under-stimulated teamies. So, to balance our screen time and create some healthy competition (and banter), we created ‘The Alchemy Spring Step Challenge’, which ran from the 29th of April to the 23rd of June. 🚶🏼♀️🚶🏾♂️ While we didn’t go as far as The Proclaimers (no one walked 500 miles), it certainly helped us feel brighter and healthier. And of course, we came back to our desks after our lunchtime walks refreshed and with a new mindset! After months of trekking, we’re happy to announce the winners! Drum roll please… 🥁 🌟 Walk’n Rollers smashed it with a total of 2,266,324 steps.  👣 Our highest stepper was Claire, with an impressive 643,225 steps!  Well done to our Step Challenge Champions! #AlchemyMedicalWriting #MedicalWriting #StepChallengeChampions

  • 12-Week Turnaround of CTD Modules for an IND? Challenge Accepted 🤓 When we were briefed with prepping clinical and non-clinical Common Technical Document (CTD) modules for an Investigational New Drug (IND) application, with a 12-week turnaround, we were a teeny bit overwhelmed. But then we remembered our commitment to evolving the healthcare space, and knew this was another opportunity to show off our capabilities. 🙌🏽 Here’s how we bossed it…  ⭐️ We assigned multiple medical writers to the project, collaborating to decide on what content was necessary and the level of detail needed. ⭐️ Clinical modules were authored from scratch and non-clinical modules were amended from the client’s initial drafts, to align them consistently.  ⭐️ Since not all source data was available immediately, documents were drafted with placeholders for missing data to achieve initial review rounds. Find out more about this project in our case report 👉  https://lnkd.in/ebEGUYNQ Do you have a project with an urgent turnaround time? ⏱ Let us know in the comments below. 👇 #AlchemyMedicalWriting #MedicalWriting #INDWriting

  • Alchemy Celebrates 🥳 Happy Alchemy-versary, Kieran! Today we’re celebrating a whole year of Kieran, one of our Senior Regulatory Writers, and one half of the A-Team’s ‘Northern Meatloaf Karaoke Band’! 🎤 When he’s not belting out Bat Out of Hell 🦇, you’ll find Kieran discussing data and producing coherent narratives. Kieran’s extensive experience of authoring research publications in academia and his former role as a Deputy Chair on a University ethics committee provide a solid foundation for his specialised knowledge.  Kieran impresses our clients daily on a wide range of projects. His efficient and timely work on a protocol and informed consent form update made a recent client’s day: “These are perfect, thanks so much for pulling them together for me so promptly”. You could say Kieran “Would Do Anything for Alchemy”… except missing a pie and a pint. He “Won’t Do That”!  #AlchemyMedicalWriting #MedicalWriting #Anniversary
