About us
We are Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS), and we fight every day to save lives. It costs £18.8M to operate our lifesaving service, 88% of this is raised through public donations and fundraising. Reg. Charity No. 1021367 We’re driven by our purpose of saving lives and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. Last year alone we attended over 2,500 incidents. We are fearless and tireless in fighting to save every life. Our charity headquarters and forward operating base are located at Rochester Airport, with our aircraft hangared and maintained at Redhill Aerodrome. When the call comes, we can reach any part of Kent, Surrey or Sussex in under 30 minutes. Patients are at the heart of everything we do. We bring the emergency room to the scene and deliver outstanding specialist treatment, care and support to give our patients their very best possible outcome. Time is critical. Which is why our fleet of helicopters and rapid response vehicles can transport our doctors and paramedics to our patients 24/7, 365 days a year. We were the first 24/7 Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in the country. Find out more about our critical, life-saving service or get in touch: www.aakss.org.uk

It was an immensely poignant morning as we honoured Graham, Mark and Tony on the 26th anniversary of the tragic helicopter accident in which they sadly lost their lives whilst serving with our charity. We observed a moment of silence at the Blue Bell Hill memorial site, before our crew flew over as a mark of respect. Today, and every day, we remember their commitment to our charity and to caring for others. Their legacy lives on in all that we do to save lives every day. Graham, Mark and Tony's families will remain in our hearts today and forever.

Today we’re remembering the dedication and devotion of Graham Budden, Mark Darby and Tony Richardson, who tragically lost their lives whilst serving our charity on 26th July 1998. They are forever in our hearts. We will observe a moment of silence at 11am and encourage everyone within our communities to take part, wherever you are, to remember Graham, Mark and Tony. Our thoughts are with their loved ones, especially today.

KSS member, Stan, recently took on a mammoth fundraising challenge of swimming the length of the channel over three months! He raised an impressive £500, which could buy two plasma kits for patients who need a plasma transfusion. Fancy a swim?
