“Global spending in low carbon solutions hit record breaking levels in 2023, but annual investment levels still need to triple to almost $5trn by 2030 to put the world on track to deliver the Paris Agreement.” A recent case study report from edie, ‘Sustainable Innovation in Action’ highlights the need for major investment in the climate tech space in order to drive positive climate impacts. At A Healthier Earth, we believe that harnessing and scaling climate tech to create geo-specific solutions is key to creating change. More investment is needed from both public and private sectors in order to create and scale solutions. Read more on the report here ⬇ https://lnkd.in/dRjWsDGE
About us
A Healthier Earth is a climate-tech catalyst delivering profitable, planet-positive projects at speed and scale. We bring together multidiscipline, tech-agnostic teams of engineers, researchers and practitioners to develop, deliver and operate solutions that help restore the world we live in, while contributing to the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Climate Agreement. Our name sums up our reason for being: everything we do is focused on creating a healthier earth. We believe the technologies needed to do that – to tackle climate change, enable biodiversity to flourish, and improve individual and societal wellbeing – already exist. Our geo-specific approach enables us to develop the best solutions to meet regional and global environmental objectives. We urge others to join us, bringing ideas, expertise and resources together to solve earth’s problems and accelerate change. A Healthier Earth operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Pure DC and is backed by leading private equity firm, Oaktree Capital Management.

Biochar is revolutionising the way we look at waste 🌾 It has huge potential to help tackle climate issues, while providing a circular solution to our waste problem. For example, businesses like Hempalta are recycling industrial hemp biomass processed at its production facility to produce Biochar. Circular biochar created from agricultural waste, and used as a valuable soil amendment that increases the water and nutrients sandy soil can hold, while locking carbon out of the atmosphere. At A Healthier Earth, we are applying circular biochar in a range of different ways, to help with geo-specific solutions like, reforesting, de-desertification, and low carbon agriculture 🌳 Find out more about our circular biochar here ⬇ https://lnkd.in/er7SkaH2

A new report from Oliver Wyman has estimated that the global market for carbon dioxide removal credits could reach up to $100 billion a year between 2030 and 2035, up from $2.7 billion last year. However, barriers like high price points for credits and the lack of a clear link to carbon taxes must be addressed to reach this ambitious sum. U.N. scientists are now estimating that billions of tons of carbon must be removed from the atmosphere annually, using nature and technology to meet global climate goals 🏭 At A Healthier Earth, we believe that carbon removal and storage is a vital technology that must be scaled rapidly in order to work to limit global warming to 1.5⁰C as part of the Paris Agreement. More work needs to be done to remove the barriers and meet the UN goal. Read more here ⬇ https://lnkd.in/eSfDh_ra

Can you spot what’s different about this sapling? 🌱 This tree is grown from seed in our vertical farm and then planted in a biochar soil amendment, as part of our ForestFactory™ project with Blenheim Palace. Now that the weather is starting to get hotter and drier, we are seeing trees grown in the vertical farm grown and in a biochar amendment accelerate in growth compared to those grown traditionally or without biochar on planting. We're looking forward to sharing more results later in the year 🌳

“The global goal of ending deforestation by 2030 is in jeopardy. To meet this ambitious but important target, we simply can’t afford to not invest in the solutions that will help us to protect and restore nature within the next six years.” Read Alastair Collier’s latest blog, discussing why climate tech needs more than just venture capital investment, to meet global climate goals. The Telegraph reports that British farmers and agriculture specialists are warning of food shortages following record rainfall, which threatens to bring the first season without a harvest on some farms. With extreme weather continuing to intensify globally year on year, we must rethink our world food system systems to support food security and mitigate the worst effects. More must be done to protect and incentivise farmers to make the switch to regenerative agriculture practices which work in harmony with the planet's natural cycles.
