Over half a million people signed our petition. Your signatures have helped this campaign get noticed – it’s led to media coverage, been mentioned in parliament, and shown MPs how many people in their constituency care, making many of them act. Today, Government won the vote to continue plans to cut the Winter Fuel Payment. Like hundreds of thousands of our supporters, we’re disappointed about this decision. But we won’t let this vote stop us from fighting for people like Lalita and Derek who need support this winter. Help us to get even more signatures on our petition by sharing it with your network: https://bit.ly/3WKe7xd

Over half a million people have joined us in fighting for the Winter Fuel Payment for struggling pensioners. Cutting the Winter Fuel Payment for anyone not on means-tested benefits, with no notice and no compensatory measures to protect poor and vulnerable pensioners, is the wrong policy choice, and one that will potentially jeopardise the health as well as the finances of millions of older people this winter – the last thing either they or the #NHS needs. Thank you to everyone who has signed so far. Please share this post with your family and friends so that we can show the Government how important this issue is 👉 https://bit.ly/3WKe7xd

We opened the doors to our #Leicester Superstore on Friday 🎉 See why it was such an important day from our Chief Executive, Paul Farmer 👇
It’s been an important day for us at Age UK as we have opened a new shop in Leicester. You may well wonder why this is important. To me, this shop is the embodiment of partnership working. It’s a partnership between the national charity and our local partners in Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland. We are both coinvesting in this shop and will benefit from the profits. It allows local people to access local services as well. It is the first of what we hope will be many collaborations across our network. Even better, our partners Dunelm have brought their expertise and support to help fit out the shop. And it’s our biggest shop ever-a superstore. This takes a lot of work, so huge thanks to staff, volunteers, people who donated stock and all the people who came today. And to the lovely Josh Smalley who added his culinary stardust! As we step up to face the challenges that so many older people face, we want to continue to work in this way locally and nationally.
