We continue to grow in our mental health and integration workshop sessions in Croydon. This week, we covered resilience and how to navigate public transport and access public libraries. One participant proudly shared that her new favorite word is "resilience." 🌟 We are proud to have provided a safe place for them as the majority continuously show openness and willingness to share their experiences, and be encouraged to seek help. Here, they found a sanctuary to be themselves, share their struggles without judgment, and receive the help they need to become mentally healthy and break out of isolation. As one participant said, “I used to sit in the hotel room for up to three days. Now, I look forward to coming on Wednesdays and Thursdays.” #Resilience #CommunitySupport #MentalHealth

We are more than just a charity; we are a beacon of hope for people who feel isolated in a new society. At the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) Liverpool office, we work tirelessly, seven days a week, to ensure that we are reachable for anyone in need. Our mission is driven by a deep commitment to refugee support, a passion that stems from the lived experiences of our founder, Dr. Nooralhaq Nasimi MBE. As a former refugee himself, Dr. Nasimi faced many of the same challenges that today’s refugees encounter. His journey inspired him to create an organization that could offer understanding, guidance, and support to those starting their lives over in the UK. Under his leadership, our staff and volunteers are continually encouraged and guided to give their very best, working to create a welcoming, supportive community for those who have left so much behind. For us, helping refugees is not just work; it’s a mission that we are proud to uphold every single day.

Today the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association hosted a workshop at @chiswick_house where artist @saeedajewelry taught Afghan refugee women how to make jewellery. Saeeda is a disabled, female, Afghan artist. She was born in a refugee camp and due to the camp’s poor conditions contracted cerebral meningitis and lost her hearing. Hers is a story of art and perseverance. In Saeeda’s own words, ‘I love making a connection with someone through a shared sense of beauty’ Many thanks to Saeeda and Lina, to Harvinder from the Chiswick House and Gardens for facilitating the workshop, and to the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association for continuing to make such an impactful contribution to the lives of Afghan women and Refugees. Stay tuned for our next jewellery workshop 2.0 on the 20th of November!!
