Today, I had the pleasure of attending the IHE Greater London Branch event on SuDS - "What can we learn from beavers?" 🦫 The presentation by Terry Wilkinson was nothing short of excellent. The use of visual aids and videos made it so much easier to grasp the importance and application of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). It was a fantastic opportunity to dive deeper into how nature-inspired solutions can significantly impact urban water management. Beyond the technical insights, I was fortunate to connect with industry professionals, gaining valuable feedback and perspectives that will undoubtedly shape my approach to future projects. A big thank you to the IHE London Branch for organising this insightful event. I’m looking forward to applying what I’ve learned and continuing my journey in civil engineering with these new perspectives. #CivilEngineering #SuDS #SustainableDevelopment Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) Greater London Branch

Our Nature Champion team at ACO has been patrolling the site grounds, at Shefford, exploring ways to further enhance living accommodations for our small, four-legged friends (amphibians). Led by our Sustainability Lead, Adam Russell Cane, they spotted a family of newts in a manhole. They were safely relocated to the green landscaping surrounding the site. Additionally, slinkies were added to protect the bird food from the cheeky squirrels! A key aspect of our recent site expansion was to create a habitat-sensitive environment that cares for the surrounding nature and water resources. Volunteers like our Nature Champions play a crucial role in ensuring we stay true to these commitments.

Awe-Inspiring Jurassic Coast Reminds Us: #WeCareForWater 🌊 While catching a break from the thrilling MUSTO Skiff World Championships in Weymouth,  https://mustoskiff.com we explored the breathtaking Jurassic Coast. Durdle Door, aptly nicknamed the "Drinking Dragon" by local fishermen, served as a powerful reminder of the delicate balance of our marine ecosystems. Just a short sail away, we saw fishing boats and impressive yachts, signifying the ocean's bounty – a source of sustenance and livelihoods as well as leisure. Yet, it's also a fragile environment demanding our utmost care and respect. We must manage not only what we take out, but also what we put in. This is the ethos behind ACO Group - ACO. we care for water. As sponsors of the Championship, we've seen firsthand how water fuels both passion and sport. It's a reminder that preserving our marine environments is crucial for both recreation and the health of our planet. A huge shoutout to the unsung heroes working tirelessly to protect our waters! 💪 Thank you to Weymouth Town CouncilKeep Britain TidyWessex Water, and countless others for your dedication. Caring for water is an ongoing commitment, vital to the future of life on Earth. https://lnkd.in/dMa4437u https://lnkd.in/e-WMc28m #Sustainability #MarineConservation #EngineeringSolutions #WaterManagement
