Olena recently conducted 20 interviews with developers to get a feel for the current IT market. As everyone has noticed, the market is going through a tough time—there’s a downturn everywhere—but this also opens up new opportunities to hire highly skilled professionals. Here are the key takeaways: High competition among Senior developers: With the downturn, many Senior developers are out of work and lowering their rates. This creates a unique opportunity for startups to find top talent at a more affordable price. Flexibility of candidates: Many developers are now open to hybrid or remote work arrangements, expanding the talent search geographically. They’re also more willing to work across different time zones, which used to be a rarity. Growing interest in stable projects: Candidates are increasingly looking for projects that seem stable and long-term. If your startup can offer a clear vision and long-term project, you’ll have a better chance of attracting top talent. Focus on technology: Developers still care a lot about the technologies and stack being used. The opportunity to work with new and popular technologies is a big plus for attracting candidates. Importance of company culture: Even in a remote work conditions, company culture and values remain crucial. Transparency, openness, and support are all factors that appeal to developers. What this means: Now is a great time to grow your team. The market is full of qualified professionals who are ready to work under more flexible conditions.
