Our CEO Maxim Timchenko shares insights in The Economist on Ukraine's energy challenges: ➡️Urgent need to ↑ EU electricity imports ➡️Quick repairs to power stations before winter ➡️Shift to resilient renewables Read the full story for an inside look at our damaged facilities: https://lnkd.in/eVDJ8wiX #StandWithUkraine #FightForLight
In an important article this week, The Economist takes readers right inside a DTEK power station hit by russian missiles: "walls charred by a fire that that burnt for over 24 hours, windows blown out, roof collapsed, machinery wrecked, pipes and ducts broken; everywhere a mess of rubble, twisted metal support struts, flayed steel cables, wire." The Economist rightly points out that to support Ukraine this winter the focus of Ukraine's allies must now be to: ➡ Increase electricity imports from Europe ➡ Help repair existing power stations (as a the quickest and cheapest solution before winter) ➡ Support Ukraine's switch to resilient renewables over the medium term. Thank you The Economist for giving us the opportunity to contribute to this story. https://lnkd.in/gp2uN8Up #StandWithUkraine #FightForLight

❗ russia is attacking not only our power stations but our network engineers in the field. In a fresh attack in Donetsk Oblast yesterday, russia shelled and seriously damaged a local substation, wounding one of our crew. He is now receiving treatment in hospital. This was the fourth attack on an engineering crew in Donetsk Oblast in the last month. A reminder: military attacks on civilian energy infrastructure is classed as a war crime. #FightForLight #StandWithUkraine

📢 "We are in this cycle of destruction, restoration and destruction again. We have to get out of this cycle. It only can be possible if we can feel ourselves protected, meaning more air defence systems, more ammunition, and more confidence for our workers who come back to power stations every day under threat of attack." DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko speaking to Justin Webb on the BBC Radio 4 programme this morning. 50% of Ukraine's power facilities have been destroyed since March. Urgent need: more air defence, increased power flow from Europe, and resources for repairs ahead of winter. Listen to the full interview ⬇ #FightForLight #StandWithUkraine

DTEK power engineers are working throughout the night to bring power back to the hospital. We have managed to connect all three substations installed near the damaged building to the grid. The next step is to test the cable lines that will allow us to supply power to the children's clinic. #RussiaIsATerroristState #StandWithUkraine #FightforLight
