About us
This is the Official Page of UNICEF Tanzania. UNICEF has been on the ground in Tanzania since 1954 as part of its emergency operations, though the office was set up in 1975. Since then, UNICEF’s support to Tanzania has taken many forms guided by the changing situation of women and children in Tanzania as well as the Organization's priorities. UNICEF plays a unique role in Tanzania as an advocate for children’s rights, identifying gaps in their realization, providing technical advice and assistance to the Government in addressing the gaps, and bringing evidence to the table. UNICEF will not stop until every child has every right!

Today, we celebrate a significant milestone in Tanzania's healthcare! We are visiting the Ilazo health centre to see the construction progress before the handover ceremony of 3 health facilities in the Bahi, Chamwino, and Chemba districts in Dodoma. Thanks to the generous support of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) these facilities will provide crucial care with aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality #ForEveryChild in #Tanzania 🇹🇿

This is what climate change looks like 🌧️🌊 Bibi Ingi’s home in Kibiti was destroyed by floods on April 25th, forcing her and her grandchildren to seek refuge at a local school. UNICEF Tanzania is working alongside the Government of Tanzania 🇹🇿 to ensure Bibi Ingi and her family now have access to safe shelter, clean water, and a temporary school for the children. In #Tanzania, over 200,000 people were affected by the floods earlier this year. UNICEF is on the ground, providing essential supplies and creating safe spaces for children. Together, we can make a difference 💙 https://lnkd.in/dxS64jVm

As we approach the #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour, we commemorated the day alongside the Ministry for Constitution and Legal Affairs. Children involved in child labour are at heightened risk of violence and abuse. To protect children's rights and ensure a brighter future #ForEveryChild in Tanzania, we must address poverty, improve education, and mobilize public support. While we've made progress, too many children in Tanzania are still forced into labour. Kudos 👏🏾to the Tanzania Coalition Against Child Labour for bringing together partners to work towards a child-labour-free #Tanzania🇹🇿
