Dave Coulier has a message for everyone sending hate to his Full House co-star John Stamos: Cut. It. Out.
On Monday, Stamos posted several pictures to Instagram of himself wearing a bald cap, showing his support for Coulier, who recently went public with his own Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis. Coulier also posted the photos to his own Instagram account, where co-stars like Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber chimed in with messages of support.
But because this is the internet, where everyone has something to say, there were also a handful of negative responses to Stamos’ show of support. One commenter called it a “shallow gesture,” implying that a true friend would have actually cut off his hair, rather than simply putting on a bald cap.
The negativity got so out of hand that Coulier on Tuesday felt compelled to defend his longtime friend on the very platform where he was receiving so much hate.
“I’m sorry to see a bunch of negative comments as l’ve just begun my cancer journey,” Coulier wrote on Tuesday. “It’s our friendship (me and John) and this is how we are handling a very tough time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap — being a true loving friend and brother.”
He continues: “I have heard from so many people who have been inspired enough by my words and actions to say that they are going to check in with their doctors and get mammograms, a colonoscopy or a prostate exam. I’m still going to laugh in the face of adversity. When I lost my sister, Sharon, my mother, Arlen, and my niece, Shannon to cancer, we tried to stay positive, and we made each other laugh through the worst of it. So, l’m choosing to spread the word about early cancer detection to help people. That’s just who I am.”
Coulier’s message concludes with the important sentiment of all: “I wish nothing but love for all of you.”
Solidarity amongst friends. Haters are going to hate. Prayers for a speedy recovery!!!
So what if John Stamos wore a bald cap? He did it to make Dave laughed and it worked. Maybe down the road he’ll decide to shave off his hair in support.
People need find other things to do.
For John to have cut off his hair would show he has no faith in Dave’s recovery. The cap was special acknowledgement to how much John cares for his friend. Thank you, John, for showing the best support possible for Dave. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. 🙏
Aww, no, I don’t think so. It’s probably more like his work would be really mad at the messed up continuity/him needing a wig. It would have grown back, so I don’t really get the “no faith in recovery” thing. I’ve known several people who cut their hair in solidarity, it’s not b/c they think the person is going to die.
I appreciate your positive attitude and defending your friend. How you react to cancer has a profound effect on how well you are. I lost my sister to inoperable brain cancer on March 21, 2022. She had a gioblastoma tumor. I miss her terribly. All the best for a full recovery. God bless.
Upon receiving the criticism, Stamos was quoted as saying “The hair, the hair…..THEE hair!”
j/k
Love ya, Uncle Jesse!
Who cares what trolls think. The only opinion that matters in this case is Dave Coulier. He and John Stamos have been friends for almost 40 years. I think they and anyone with a functioning brain cell knows that their bond is real.
Cut it out! Cut the Cancer out…Joey. 👍🏾🙏🏾
This was some comedic relief between two longtime friends, done with love. People need to get a grip.
I could sort of see the outrage if Stamos had in any way implied he’d shaved his head in solidarity without actually doing so but he didn’t so I don’t get it. And Coulier obviously was amused/not offended if he reposted so why does anyone else have the right to get up in arms?
Imagine if all the haters had their lives picked apart and judged by the world on a daily basis?! People should mind their own business and put all that energy into focusing on fixing what they do wrong ditch the sjw hobby.
