2/29/04. Mr. Twin, I am not so sure Toddler Hiway and She's An Angel belong on this list. The Close 'N' Play was a type of children's record player that only worked when the lid was closed -- hence the name. It's a trademarked term, like Advil or Cadillac. As for the Shriners, I am not sure exactly what they do but they're definitely a group. They're like the Elks or the Masons. They're very big in Florida and you would not want to get on their bad side by saying they don't exist. You may want to think about removing these songs -- just my $0.02.

03/01/04 If you've ever been to a parade, the Shriners are the group of guys wearing funny hats and driving around in go karts. They also operate a network of specialized hospitals that treat children with orthopaedic problems, burns and spinal cord injuries, up to their 18th birthday, free of charge. For more information http://www.shrinershq.org/

03/05/04. Well, thank you for informing me. My mistake. I didn't know. I hope the Shriners aren't out to get me now. --My Evil Twin's Twin

6/15/04. Should Wicked Little Critta be here? All "critta" is, is a misspelling of "critter". Spelling it like it's pronounced in the song. It's not really nonsense and nothing else in the song is.

6/15/04. I'm not entirely sure that Mosh Momken Abadan belongs here. It seems to me that since it an Egyptian pop song, we should seek a translator. After all, the word "Abadan" seems like it might be derived from the Hebrew "Abaddon," which means destruction (hence the English Standard Version of the Bible uses the phrase "Sheol and Abaddon" to say "death and destruction" in Proverbs 15:11). Just give the song a chance, that's all I'm asking. Aurora Hawthorne

6/26/04. If it's alright with you, I think I'll leave it on the page, until we know the exact translation. Then I'll be happy to take it off. --My Evil Twin's Twin

6/26/04. Well, I wasn't saying we should just take it for granted that they're real words. If I wasn't clear enough, I'm sorry for that. Am I really that hard to understand? I guess I only really try when I'm doing some serious writing that I will be mocked for if it's not perfect (and that's quite a lot of the time, if you'll believe me). Aurora Hawthorne

i think it is important that we make a distinction between made-up words that are just incorrect english, and words that are actually nonsensical. for example, "mesopotamish", while not being an actual word, makes sense; we understand the meaning of the word, despite the fact that it is not in the dictionary. i'd be fine with having words like these listed on the same page as "wangity-wang", as long as they're in their own section. if so, however, i think we need a different page name. something as simple as "made-up words" would be fine by me. input? --ant 20:48, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

I was going to post the exact same thing. Then I noticed you'd beaten me to it. --༺𝄞𝄆Ⓠⓤⓔⓛ⎈Ⓓⓞⓜⓜⓐⓖⓔ𝄇༻ 23:37, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Am I wrong in thinking that Exquisite Dead Guy and Spider are not good examples? They sound more like scatting, and less like actual made-up words to me.

i think i'd have to agree. -Apollo (colloquia!) 17:32, 14 November 2012 (EST)

sense and nonsensibility[edit]

many of these examples are not nonsense words at all, but instead made-up words that come from portmanteau, logical constructions, or other general alterations to English words. they are perfectly sensible, just not strictly real. additionally, a number of entries are just scat or sound effects, which are not intended as words in the first place. i'll make some lists now. HOLD ON. Apollo (colloquia!) 17:27, 24 October 2013 (EDT)

actual nonsense/open to debate

not a very long list

logical constructions
probably shouldn't be on this list

there are, of course, numerous other logical constructions in other songs that were never on this list. and probably more nonsense words that have been omitted. not the easiest thing to hunt down. Apollo (colloquia!) 17:34, 24 October 2013 (EDT)

per others "100 Cars For Good" (motor-vehiclized) and "The Mesopotamians" (Mesopotamish) could also populate the second group. Apollo (colloquia!) 17:38, 24 October 2013 (EDT)
I agree. I think we should rename the page to Fake Words and keep the first two lists above. Also, hi. I'm new here? --badqueso (talk) 23:30, 24 October 2013 (EDT)

should scat be on here?[edit]

I don't think scat should be on here, because if that's nonsense, there's a good portion of classic songs that have nonsense in them. When I hear scat, I don't hear nonsense. I hear beat-writing and instrumentalization in the form of vocals. That really isn't nonsense. --You&Me!! (talk) 07:54, 10 December 2021 (EST)

Yeah, the people right above this section, they say some scats in songs don't belong on the list. However, it would be interesting to show them in a separate section on the page, or a different page. -⇂⇂↋ suᴉɥsuǝZ ʎɯɯᴉᒋ (talk) 14:07, 10 December 2021 (EST)
