At Hong Kong FinTech Week 2024 (#HKFTW24) last week, our Co-founder and Chairperson Thomas G. Tsao joined Christina Gaw of Gaw Capital and Rachel Lau of Iris Capital Partners Malaysia to discuss how U.S.-China relations are influencing Asia’s investment landscape. He highlighted Hong Kong’s strategic role in connecting investors to high-growth regions like #Pakistan and the #MiddleEast. Christina shared that Gaw Capital has diversified beyond real estate into energy transition and private credit, generating mid-teen returns in Hong Kong, Korea, and Australia, despite rising interest rates. She noted that Hong Kong firms are finding success in Southeast Asia’s expanding EV infrastructure market. Rachel highlighted Iris Capital’s pivot to carbon credits, which has brought strong returns, and underscored the venture debt market’s potential for growth and SME financing. She observed rising investment from Korean institutions into Southeast Asia, adding to the region's competitive momentum.
