What’s going on in Southeast Asia's startup ecosystem this week?👇 Papaya, a Thailand-based platform facilitating ordering and payments for restaurants, bars, and hotels, has raised an undisclosed amount in equity funding. The round was led by Beenext, with A2D Ventures also participating. ------ 🚀 Discover high-potential startups across Southeast Asia: a2dventures.com/register ------ Grab, has acquired a Singapore-founded startup, Chope, to expand its services beyond ride and food delivery by doubling down on the competitive restaurant booking industry in Southeast Asia. Grab expects to provide more synergies for its merchant-partners to help them capture online-to-offline opportunities. The financial details of this acquisition were not disclosed. BluMaiden Biosciences, headquartered in Singapore, has received funding to progress its small molecule drug discovery strategy. By employing AI-driven computational genetics and chemistry, BluMaiden intends to investigate the extensive chemical possibilities within human biology for creating novel medications. The investment was primarily led by elev8.vc, a venture capital firm specializing in deep tech, alongside SEEDS Capital, the investment entity of Enterprise Singapore, also contributing to the funding round. CHITOSE Group, a biotechnology company headquartered in Singapore, has raised USD 6.2 million worth of new shares through a third-party allotment to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation – SMBC Group. Bryd secured a USD 300k seed funding from angel investors. They specialize in assisting businesses in harnessing and comprehending Slack, enabling them to achieve unprecedented possibilities with the platform. Glance, a consumer technology company based in Singapore and an unconsolidated subsidiary of InMobi, is in advanced talks to secure up to USD 250 million in funding, with Google leading the investment round. Har Har Chicken, a takeaway kiosk operator offering specialty dishes inspired by fermented prawn paste chicken, has secured funding in a round led by East Ventures. The exact amount raised has not been disclosed. PEXX, a Singaporean startup, has completed a USD 4.5 million seed funding round to enhance its innovative platform for converting stablecoins to fiat currency payments. Led by TNB AURA with support from Antler and EMO Capital, the investment aims to revolutionize cross-border transactions by enabling direct conversion of stablecoins such as Tether.io (USDT) and Circle (USDC) into global bank accounts, bypassing conventional banking intermediaries. Dr Clear Aligners (DCA), a company offering dental clear aligners across the Asia Pacific, has secured USD 8 million in Series A funding from Insignia Ventures Partners. WISE AI, a startup based in Malaysia that focuses on eKYC and Digital Identity solutions, has secured Series A funding in the eight-figure range. The exact amount of funding has not been disclosed. Leading this funding round are Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), VentureTech SBI Sdn Bhd (VT-SBI), and Sunway Group’s Sunway iLabs Ventures. Niv Della Beauty Innovations, known for D2C brands Colourette and Fresh Formula, has secured USD 2 million in funding.
