Ultracon

The Ultracons are a Decepticon subgroup from the Dreamwave portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Ultracons are a Decepticon splinter faction founded and led by Ratbat, who believe the war can be conducted more efficiently with a smaller force that controls key resources.

Dreamwave Generation One continuity

High Auditor Ratbat broke away from the Decepticons after the apparent destruction of Optimus Prime and Megatron in a space bridge explosion and Starscream's failed coup attempt. Forming a small group of loyalists, the Ultracons set up a base of operations in Polyhex, but were prevented from expanding further by Springer and the Wreckers, stoking a very personal hatred for Springer in Ratbat. Unlike any of the other breakaway factions of that era, the Ultracons counted among their members a combiner team, the Constructicons, in defiance of the Crisis Intervention Accord. Escalation

The Ultracons attempted to expand their territory into the Tagan Heights, in order to control its manufacturing facilities. When the Wreckers intruded into the Heights, Ratbat played his trump card: Devastator. Devastator single-handedly routed the Wreckers, and delivered Springer into the clutches of Ratbat. Springer's imminent execution was indefinitely delayed, however, by the arrival of the Protectobots, who combined into Defensor and engaged Devastator. Escalation Unfortunately, the battle between the two titans threatened to destroy the entire region, forcing Springer to convince Defensor to stand down. Eventually, the Protectobots listened to reason and separated, defeating Devastator via sabotage. Devastator separated into his unconscious components, and Ratbat and the rest of the Ultracons fled. Eventually, the Autobots wore down the Decepticons and the Ultracons, forcing them to sue for peace. Ratbat served as the Ultracons' representative at the Tyger Pax peace ceremony, which was first disrupted by Starscream's Predacons, and then by Megatron and the Aerospace Extermination Squadron. With Megatron's return, the Decepticon forces unified and the Ultracons ceased to exist. War Within: The Age of Wrath
