Synopsis

Atop Mount Fuji, a young boy marvels at the view of the crater and throws a stone in before being scolded by his father. As the pair leave, the rock causes a minor landslide which uncovers a huge face, that of Dragotron. Dragotron sends forth a signal which awakens the Four Oni. Somewhere in space, Optimus Prime's equipment detects the Predacon signals, but also another six mysterious signals.

Meanwhile, at Nagoya Castle, Tobio Fūma is suffering the boredom of a guided tour with his classmates. As his teacher tells him off for not paying attention, Tobio spots the Predacons Bakudora and Judora flying towards the castle. Everyone flees in panic, except Tobio who stands gawping. After looking around for a few moments, Judora flies up and plucks a Legendisc from one of the castle's golden Shachihoko statues.

The sight of the disc causes Tobio to remember his grandfather telling him about the likelihood of Oni trying to steal the legendary mirror from the statue and how it must be protected at all costs. Girding himself, Tobio launches into action and snatches the Legendisc from Judora's claw.

While Bakudora transforms to chase the boy, Judora instead opens fire on the panicked people running about. Despite Tobio's pleas, the Predacon refuses to stop, but Tobio's anger activates the Legendisc. Parts of the castle open and giant robot animals emerge—a lion, a bird, and a shark. Tobio is stunned as the newly arrived trio transform into robots and introduce themselves as Gekisoumaru, Hishoumaru and Sensuimaru, the Swordbot Shinobi Team.

The two Predacons are surprised to see their opponents are still alive after all this time. Judora summons five Jaki minions out of nearby objects. The Autobots unleash ninja attacks which swiftly defeat the quintet, and Judora orders them to merge. Goradora knocks the Autobots trio around, until Tobio's anxious sweat drop falls on the Legendisc. Inspired, the Swordbots combine into GoGekisou and smash weapon after weapon into Goradora until the giant disassembles. Judora gives the Jaki even more power so they form into a larger Goradora, but GoGekisou unleashes another, more devastating attack that results in the Jaki exploding. Leaping into the air, GoGekisou follows this up by striking the two Oni Predacons with his sword and everything disappears in a flash of light.

The three Autobots and Tobio are stunned to find they've been transported to the past and are standing on a hill overlooking two armies poised to go into battle. Just as they realise that each of the armies bears a Legendisc, Tobio's own disc flashes and they find themselves back in present-day Japan. The two Predacons are long gone, but the three Autobots pledge their loyalty to Tobio.

That night, Tobio talks on the phone to his friend Isami Tatewaki and is surprised to learn that Isami has befriended another trio of Autobots, the Swordbot Samurai Team. Tobio is overexcited to get the chance to help defend Earth.

Notes

Continuity notes

  • The plot of this episode is extremely similar to that of "Triple Combination! Swordbot - Samurai!", including the first 1:45 of both episodes being identical. This won't be the last time it happens.

Real-world references

  • Nagoya Castle is a real place. It probably hasn't been attacked by Predacons. Yet.
  • The Autobots are transported to the Battle of Sekigahara, same as the Samurai Team is in their introductory episode.
