During the Age of Expansion, Thunderhowl served under Onyx Prime, who dispatched him to destroy Crystal City. Though Thunderhowl breached the city's defences, he wound up trapped by the crystals, held in a state of suspended animation.

Salvation for the knight came millions of years later, when he was freed by the Autobots Bumblebee and Chromia, saving them from their own crystalline duplicates. After introducing himself to the Autobots, Thunderhowl agreed to aid them on their quest to save Windblade. Once they had entered the throne room, the Crystalline King generated an squadron of crystal Windblades to hold off the trio but Bumblebee's multiverse energy managed to shatter the entity. His quest complete, Thunderhowl returned to Iacon with the Autobots whereupon he pledged his loyalty to Optimus Prime. Thunderhowl

After Optimus Prime had received instructions from the Thirteen to destroy an alternate version of the Matrix of Leadership that Megatron had brought into their reality, Thunderhowl joined the infiltration team into Croaton. As they tracked the alternate Matrix, Thunderhowl sneaked past Decepticon guards using his nimble beast mode and incapacitated two guards with his electric breath. As the Autobots clashed with Decepticons, Thunderhowl pounced on Shadow Striker. After the Autobots had made it to the control room, they and the Decepticons were suddenly surrounded by towering hostiles. Silent Strike

The hostiles were quickly identified as Decepticon supersoldiers created by an alternate version of Megatron who had won the Great War and the owner of the alternate Matrix. While Thunderhowl and Sky-Byte boldly led the charge into battle against the soldiers, they proved too powerful to be felled as one supersoldier managed to blast Thunderhowl off of him. Along with the other Autobots, Thunderhowl battled several supersoldiers and received a power boost of multiverse energy from Optimus Prime. Thunderhowl caught up with Optimus and Bumblebee just as Astrotrain took Megatron X, defeated and immobilized by Optimus, away. Thunderhowl was later present when a restored Windblade made her return. The Other One

Thunderhowl was in the crowd celebrating the signing of the peace treaty between the Autobots and Decepticons. He was presumably frozen in time with the rest of Cybertron by Trypticon's Mercenaries, and restored along with the rest of the planet. The Immobilizers

When the Decepticon supersoldiers arrived on Cybertron, Thunderhowl engaged them in combat. Later, Bumblebee led Optimus, Soundwave, Shadow Striker and Tarn to find Thunderhowl, who Bumblebee believed could help locate the Cortex Helm. He took some convincing, but Thunderhowl agreed to lead the others to the Helm. He brought them to the Isle of Onyx Prime, and guided them past living statues of Alpha Trion and a collapsing passageway, until Tarn stole the Cortex Helm and brought the Decepticon supersoldiers under his control. Supersoldiers teleported in and restrained everyone, as Tarn declared himself the true leader of the Deceptions, and his intentions to annihilate the Autobots. Tarn ordered Shadow Striker to execute Thunderhowl and Bumblebee, but she allowed them to escape. Thunderhowl joined Hot Rod and the other Autobot forces underground to form a plan to take back the planet. The Autobots teleported to the Cube arena, and Thunderhowl joined the battle, using his lightning attacks to great effect. He later was shocked to realize that Soundwave had sacrificed himself to destroy Tarn. The Perfect Decepticon

From vomiting wombat to valiant knight and back!
  • TakaraTomy ID number: Action Master-08
  • Build-a-Figure part: Maccadam's head (2020 release only)
  • Accessories: Sword, Shield, Effect part
  • Action Attack: "Lightning Blast"
Cyberverse Thunderhowl transforms from knight-themed robot to mechanical wolf. He comes with his sword and shield, and an action attack effect part which can be slid over his sword or his wolf mode tongue.
Thunderhowl's design draws inspiration from his concept art, though slightly tweaked (most notably adding more gold), and his face features the battle mask design. Because of this, Thunderhowl is the least accurate of the Deluxe Cyberverse figures. He comes with the head piece of the build-a-bot Maccadam.
Thunderhowl's stock image features him badly mistransformed, as the torso is kept in its robot mode configuration instead of unfolding along his spine, and his pelvis segments in beast mode can be slid out and pushed higher up towards his rump to create a more naturally shaped wolf form.
Unfortunately, like other 2020 Cyberverse Deluxe class figures, Thunderhowl is prone to photodegradation.
Thunderhowl was released twice: First in 2020 under the Bumblebee: Cyberverse Adventures subline imprint, and then again in 2021 in the line's final Dinobots Unite subline imprint packaging refresh. The second release omitted the Maccadam Build-a-Figure part.

  • Accessories: Sword, tail/scabbard, wolf head/chestplate/hilt, cape
Ultra Class Thunderhowl transforms from knight-themed robot to mechanical wolf. He comes with his sword and a removable cape. His wolf tail is also removable and can be pegged onto either of his hip plates to act as a scabbard for his sword which can be stored in the tail in both modes.
Like Clobber and Rack'n'Ruin before him, Thunderhowl is surprisingly articulated for a Cyberverse Ultra Class figure, featuring an Energon Armor gimmick like everyone else in his sub-line. Said gimmick is a little more restricted; his cape must be removed for it to be deployed, and it's enabled by popping the wolf-head off his chest; the lower jaw becomes a hidden button that triggers the release mechanism. The wolf head can't be replaced on his chest afterward, as the armor won't sit flush with it in the way; instead, it is stored on the hilt of his sword.
Care should be taken when removing the cape; as the plastic is sturdy and pliable, but the pegs are very tiny and could snap off if too much pressure is applied. Though his plastic is greener than black, Thunderhowl's sculpting is more show-accurate than his Deluxe Class figure above.
Just like the Deluxe Class version, Ultra Class Thunderhowl was also released twice: First in 2020 under the Bumblebee: Cyberverse Adventures subline imprint, and then again in 2021 in the line's final Dinobots Unite subline imprint packaging refresh.
