Temporal Station
From Transformers Wiki
The Temporal Station is a large archway inside which a vortex through space/time can be created—a veritable "time tunnel" if you will. Though the device was created in 1939, it requires a sufficiently advanced power source that would not have been available at that time.

The Temporal Station was constructed for the 1939 Griffin Rock Technology Expo by a team of scientists including Doctors Thaddeus Morocco and Elma Hendrickson. Lacking a source of energy powerful enough, they failed to get it to work, and it was concealed in a hidden room behind another hidden room underneath the laboratory. It remained there until 2012 when Doc Greene, Frankie and Cody stumbled on it. Doc Greene was able to get it working using nuclear power, and opted to first conduct some tests, sending Dither the Helper Bot through. Unfortunately the Rescue Bots, Cody and Frankie were also pulled through and ended up in 1939. Concerned, Chief Burns contacted Optimus Prime who found that energon was also an adequate source of power for the time machine and traveled back to 1939 with Bumblebee. The two kids and the Bots used the time machine to return to 2012, only to find that leaving Dither in the past had changed history, turning Griffin Rock into Moropolis. It's a Bot Time
With the help of the Burns family, the group got back to the time machine and used it to travel back in time, shortly before Morocco crashed into it while driving a MorBot, destroying the machine in the alternate timeline. Once Dither had been retrieved from 1939, the time travelers returned to the corrected 2012. Heatwave announced that they'd smash the time machine to avoid any more temporal accidents.
