He had to pay an arm and a leg to get imported into G1.

Formerly an Autobot during the Great War, Synapse now serves as the political officer aboard the Cybertronian warship Dinosaur. In this capacity, he frequently clashes with Longrack, the ship's formal first officer.

On the surface, Synapse seems like a really great guy, always ready with a smile or a compliment. Now if only the smile was genuine, and the compliments were worded so that they didn't sound almost like insults. Underneath that layer of superficial charm lies a smug skidplate of a 'bot who utterly despises Maximal and Predacon alike, and is willing to do pretty much anything to keep them "in line", including the occasional act of murder.

Beast Wars: Uprising

When the Dinosaur detected a signal of a planet long of interest to the Builders, Synapse went to visit Magmatron, the ship's chief engineer, exchanging a few veiled insults while he was there. Soon after, when the crew was assembled into a team to travel down to the planet's surface, Synapse met them in the hanger, beating Longrack there. Then he passed along the news that the first officer was to stay on board, captain's orders after all.

A short time later a fuming Longrack went to talk with the captain, only to find Synapse had beaten him there again, the Micromaster scolding the Maximal for being away from the bridge in a crisis. The first officer claimed that Hydra had discovered a signal from Cybertron, one that wasn't from the Builder Assembly. Aware the message was from the Resistance, Synapse acted quickly to prevent the message spreading out to the crew. Synapse made his way to Apelinq's lab, where the Predacon had analyzed the signal and found it was one from the Resistance. Bumping into the Predacon as he tried returning to duty, Synapse gently reassured him... and while Hydra's head was turned he grabbed a blaster and fired, mortally wounding the Predacon.

Full-Tilt objected to this action, demanding the political officer be removed from duty. In response, Synapse severed his connection to Trypticon, the larger mechanoid siding with the Micromaster.

By the time Synapse returned to the bridge, the crew had fought off an unidentified attack craft. Killer Punch was concerned about Hydra's absence, but Synapse was on-hand to remind him to stay at his post, just in case someone else attacked, until Longrack told the political officer he wasn't in charge, and allowed Killer Punch leave to look for his crewmate. Sometime thereafter, the lights went out, and Synapse stormed off, heading in the direction of Apelinq's lab, realizing the paranoid Predacon would try and reach Apelinq's lab. Synapse advised killing the Predacon, only to be overruled by the ship's captain, who wanted to try and keep them alive. But since Killer Punch had learnt too much, the only option left was to have Trypticon kill him.

However, the political officer was unaware that Killer Punch had broadcast his little monologue to Magmatron, unwittingly motivating him and Dead-End to turn against him for their own preservation, the very thing Synapse had been trying to prevent. While Magmatron rallied the rest of the crew, Synapse went looking for Dead-End. And immediately on finding her, the Predacon opened fire on him. However, Synapse quickly overpowered her, taking a perverse pleasure at the thought of getting to kill the one Predacon on board ship he despised the most. Then, just as he was about to strangle her, his right arm was disintegrated by a newcomer. Swearing vengeance, he transformed and ran for it, making his way to the bridge, only to find Longrack on his own. A tense confrontation ensued, until Longrack declared he wanted nothing to do with the Predacons.

The two went to find Magmatron, locating the engineer as he was trying to keep the ship afloat. Grinning smugly, the Micromaster allowed the Predacon to keep working, smugly taunting him about how he couldn't let the ship drop, and how the officer was wondering what to do with him. Magmatron asked that Synapse at least spare the rest of the Predacons. Synapse claimed he would, only to admit he was lying when called on it, and that he and Trypticon were going to kill them anyway. However, this taunt provoked Longrack into attacking Synapse, spurred by his loyalty to his crewmates regardless of affiliation.

In the aftermath, Synapse was imprisoned inside Trypticon's brig, with the promise of being released once the uprising was over and returned to Cybertron for a trial. Intersectionality
