Game over, man, game over!

Once upon a time, it was hard to tell Shock apart from his fellow Duobot, Ore. The big hole in his sparkless chest will probably help some, now.

Shock is the red one to the left of Ultra Magnus.

Over five million years ago, the Duobots Shock of Bitrex and Ore were meant to be crewmates aboard the Unitrex-1 before the starship mysteriously vanished on the launch pad. Before the incident, Shock had carved his tag, "you flare, you flicker, you fade", into a table at the ship's canteen. No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases

The Duobots survived the war together, making it through the Battle for Hell's Point, The Gloaming surviving "the day it rained" on Babu Yar, and escaping the Simanzi Massacre, where they braved the Crucible. They also had a prankster streak, having welded Prowl's hands together for a gag once. Exactly how the uptight policebot reacted is unknown. The Chaos of Warm Things

At some point during the war, they became agents of Prowl's secret "Diplomatic Corps", operating as handlers for Skids. Arm the Lonely

Shock and Ore were employed as Prowl's agents aboard the Lost Light. They were surprised to discover the new quantum ship was apparently their old ship, the U-1. No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases

Ore attempted to plant a tracking device on the ship, but was killed when the nearby quantum generator activated. The Chaos of Warm Things When the ship landed on a planet after its catastrophic launch, Shock was sent with Red Alert to investigate strange noises in the lower levels of the ship. Hangers On Shock took the opportunity to cover up Ore's connection to Prowl, but was soon attacked and killed by a Sparkeater hiding in the ship. The Chaos of Warm Things His body was found sans spark by Red Alert, who realized a Sparkeater was responsible. Hangers On

With his skills as a mnemosurgeon, Chromedome peered into Shock's memories to confirm Red Alert's theory. The Chaos of Warm Things

Notes

Duobots Concept.jpg
  • In case the point of the names is not clear, try saying "Shock and Ore" out loud in an English accent.
  • While Shock identified his hometown as Bitrex in "No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases", the Necrobot's Memorial to the Disappeared in "Anomie" included a "Shock of Polyhex". It is unclear if this is a separate person also named "Shock", or if even the Necrobot couldln't tell apart Shock from Ore, and thus wrongly listed Shock as the disappeared one with Ore's hometown.

Foreign names
