- San D-Go is an Autobot Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
San D-Go (サンディーゴ San Dīgo) spends most of his time tinkering around the Metrobase. If he's not working on the upkeep of the base's systems, he's trying to create new devices to power up his comrades in the Train Team, making them more effective fighters. He's also fascinated by Earth culture, to the point where he planned to marry the female Turbo Team member Discharge in a human-style ceremony... though apparently this never came to be.
Because nerds can't ever be married, you see.[1]

Fiction
Micromaster
San D-Go and the other Sixtrain Train Team members used their combined "Red Mode" to drive the Decepticon Sixwing from an excavation site at the base of a dormant volcano. The Train Team was forced to re-form Sixtrain when Sixwing returned, intent on stealing the prizes the Autobots had dug up. Sixtrain! Activate Red Mode!! Later, San D-Go reported on the bizarre dimensional tear above the Metrobase that brought the Multiforce to modern-day Earth. The Menace of Landcross's Combining Formation!
Operation Combination
Years later, San D-Go and the rest of the Six-team Micromasters joined Guard City and the Road Corps in defending Earth from the forces of the Decepticon High Regent Scrash. Operation Combination
Train Wars
The Trainbots were heavily injured fighting the Nine Great Demon Generals in the form of Raiden, leaving them requiring extensive repairs. Blaming himself for their condition, Shouki left the team so that his leadership would never endanger them again. Sixtrain stood watch over Shouki's elective reformatting into a spy shuttlecraft at Metrobase. Shouki & Daniel Chapter
Later, just as Cybertron seemed lost to the interdimensional incursion of the Fallen, Shouki and the ragtag band of Transformers left to defend Cybertron were greeted by Desire along with D-Go and Shouki's old comrade Suiken. The other Trainbots had arrived astride Metroplex, bringing with them the Train Team and the Liner Team! Chiding his brother for being as solemn as ever, Yukikaze reminded Shouki the Trainbots would always have his back. With that, on Windy's count all three teams of train 'bots combined into the Trainbot Omni-Car Joint to chain the Fallen, giving Shouki and company time to vanquish the cosmic evil by funneling Metroplex's power through Shouki's new "Raiden" cannon mode. Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers

- Released in the Operation Combination portion of Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, San D-Go is a redeco of Sixliner member D-Go, transforming into a D51 steam locomotive engine. He has a "peg" connector tab in the back of his train mode allows him to pull any fellow Micromaster train or footplate-weapon with a "socket" connector. A small socket at the top of his engine mode allows him to use the Sixtrain leg piece as a roof-mounted weapon; he is the only member of the Train Team that can actually mount this piece in the proper forward-facing position shown in the instructions.
- He can also form the back to any Six-team Micromaster combined robot, as well as the chest to any of the "jet-kibble" style combiners, but his nominal placement is as the back of Sixtrain.
- He was only available in the complete Sixtrain box set, along with his fellow Micromasters Atlan, Desire, Convertor, Raise, and Windy.
- The original Six-Teams are considered among the more difficult Japanese Generation 1 pieces to find, due to their final-year release well after Transformers had faded from relevance in Japan, and thus command some hefty prices even with the molds' later re-releases.

- In 2003, the entire Sixtrain team was re-released as the fifth The Transformers: Micromaster assortment, in individual boxes with a number visible to show which mold was inside each box. For this release, each character was extensively redecoed, plus the decals from the original version were replaced with paint applications. San D-Go has changed considerably, now a dull copper train rather than jet black, now with some fairly elaborate silver striping along his entire train mode. In robot mode, he loses the complex chest deco of the sticker that covered the screw holding him together (none of the Micromaster releases have more complicated tampograph printing), instead having a solid yellow chest and lighter shades of his original plastic colors. Curiously, he has no face paint at all (just like the original), an unusual omission for this series.
- On top of this, two out of every twelve toys in the shipping/display case were all-red-plastic, minimally-painted "Red Mode" chase figures. Even the combiner kibble was cast in red.
- The regular deco version of this toy was sold without changes in the Hasbro 2003 Universe line as Overload.
Notes
- San D-Go's name seems to be a pun on the Californian city San Diego—however, his name is not actually "San Diego". "Diego" is rendered in katakana as ディエゴ diego, featuring an "e" that San D-Go (サンディーゴ San Dīgo) does not have. The latter part of San D-Go's name is in fact duplicated from his mold-partner D-Go, whose name was determined to be a pun based on the fact the number five is go in Japanese and he turns into a D51 steam locomotive. Perhaps coincidentally, san is Japanese for the number three, but no one in the fandom has been able to figure out if "3-D-5" might refer to anything.
- San D-Go, like all of the six-team Micromasters, had no individual bio information whatsoever until his Micromaster release a decade after his original Operation Combination release.
