The Book of the Second Prophecies indicated that the Requiem Blaster, the last relic Megatronus needed for his plan to drain the sparks from all Transformers and resurrect Solus Prime, was hidden somewhere in Primal Swamp. Armed with this knowledge, Megatron led Perceptor, Victorion, and Windblade there to find it first. There, they were ambushed by the Dinobots, who assumed Megatron to be responsible for the coming apocalypse and attacked them, eventually combining into Volcanicus. The Swamp Volcanicus quickly gained the upper hand, only for the matter to be further complicated by the arrival of Predaking, who had come to the Swamp seeking the Enigma of Combination. Volcanicus As the two combiners alternated between fighting each other and the others, Megatron slipped away and located a large dome bearing the symbols of the Primes. Without Warning The battle briefly paused as the others watched him enter the dome, but the combiners soon resumed fighting, with Predaking eventually overpowering Volcanicus and knocking him into an energon pool. Before he could attack the others, Megatron re-emerged with the Blaster, followed by its guardian Optimus Primal, and convinced Predaking to stand down. At Primal's suggestion, the group left the Swamp for the Athenaeum Sanctorum, now with Grimlock in tow, while the other Dinobots stayed behind. Primal Unfortunately, the Dinobots were soon found by Overlord and a corrupted Rodimus Cron, who violently interrogated them to find out where Megatron's team was headed. Once Snarl talked, Rodimus, under possession of Unicron, killed Sludge as a warning before departing with Overlord. Athenaeum Sanctorum

In the aftermath of Megatronus's defeat, Grimlock returned to Primal Swamp to join the other Dinobots in mourning Sludge. Saga's End
