Orchid Crossing

From Transformers Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

One of the many command hubs utilized in their war against the Dire Wraiths, the Solstar Order owns and operates Orchid Crossing, a massive space station that orbits the icy planet Xetaxxis. It can hold an impressive amount of spacecraft and is large enough to allow Cybertronians to move about freely.

Fiction

2005 IDW continuity

After a training cruise at Mining Colony 25-6-41, a group of Space Knights led by Rom and Livia, docked at the station aboard the Solstar V. They had arrived there to provide security for an upcoming diplomatic summit between the Order and the neighboring Galactic Council to discuss allowing the Knights safe passage into Council territory; the Order had deliberately brought their Cybertronian cadet Stardrive along to act as proof that the Solstar Order could keep the Cybertronian race under control.

The next morning, a Council delegation arrived and was quick to shed its disguise revealing themselves to be a Dire Wraith/Decepticon alliance. Taking the Knights by surprise, the invaders murdered members of the Solstar Order with impunity as Starscream made his way to Stardrive's energon synthesizer by using her to break down a wall. Having picked up on Starscream's scheme, Autobots, Ultra Magnus, Bumblebee, and Sky Blast tracked the Decepticons to Orchid Crossing. Ordering Sky Blast to remain with the ship, Shining Armor #2 Ultra Magnus and Bumblebee blew a hole in the hull and arrived face to face with Starscream. Rom tried to get them to stand down but none of the Cybertronians so much as glanced at him. Shining Armor #1

He rectified this by shooting Magnus in the arm who simply shot the Knight though a wall. The chaos of the fighting destroyed the station's structural integrity with only its forcefield holding it together. When Sky Blast boarded the station, he was assaulted by a Dire Wraith and the two became an ungodly Wraith/Cybertronian hybrid that tore through everything. Hoping that the heat of atmospheric reentry would incinerate the beast, Ultra Magnus deactivated the station's forcefield and sent the remains of the station tumbling into Xetaxxis' gravity well. All four factions managed to bail out of the station before it made impact; Starscream decided to pick the energon synthesizer from the wreckage of the station but Vekktral observed that the hybrid had survived the station's violent reentry. A native tribe of Xetaxxians made their way to the ship to strip it and its dead occupants for parts and food; a practice that Livia found disgusting but that Rom had no objections to. The crater became the site of a brief dogfight as the Space Knights and Decepticons clashed for control of the synthesizer, Shining Armor #3 and an emotional Stardrive would punt Livia through a chunk of its wreckage during a later altercation. When a defeated Starscream spitefully primed the synthesizer to detonate, the remains of the station were presumably destroyed as the explosion sterilized half of the planet. With the Wraith infection dealt with for the time being, Rom, Livia, and Sata returned to orbit and helped retrieve some of the many escape shuttles that had been jettisoned from the station before it crashed.
