Norio Imamura (いまむら のりお Imamura Norio born April 17, 1954) is a Japanese stage and voice actor. He is perhaps best known as the original voice of Emporio Ivankov on One Piece. In the world of dubbing, he has played Albert Goldman (Nathan Lane) in The Birdcage.

While any connection to the Yakuza that Imamura might have is strictly conjecture, it is more than certain he is not permitted in any Japanese bathhouses.

Notes

  • An avowed tattoo enthusiast, Imamura spent 4 to 5 million yen ($45,000 to $56,000 USD) on his tattoos. When he showed fullbody pics of himself on his blog, he was arrested due to Japan's strict censorship laws.[1] His role on One Piece went to Mitsuo Iwata and he was fined 500,000-yen (about US$6,000).[2] He has received scarce voice acting work since then as a result of the "scandal" (tattoos are strongly discouraged in Japan).
