Hot Rod has a lot of merchandise!
The Transformers
- Decipher the Decepticons Sweepstakes prize (1986)
- 5 motorized Hot Rod go-carts were advertised as the grand prizes for the Decipher the Decepticon promotional contest. Sadly, no images of these rarities have surfaced on the Internet to date. If you know where we can find one we will give you a baby. A real baby.
Transformers Choco
- Hot Rodimus (1986)
- Released as part of Kabaya's line of Transformers Choco candy toys, this version of Hot Rod is a small, transformable model kit, cast in solid red plastic. As with all the Transformers Choco figures, he came with "Chocolate Dots", small candies similar to M&Ms.
- Rodimus Convoy (1986)
- Transformers Choco Rodimus Prime was also a small, solid-red transforming model kit packaged with Chocolate Dots. Its trailer, however, was a solid removable piece, which did not open into a battle station like the larger figure.
Transformers Gum
- Rodimus Convoy (1986)
- Accessories: Trailer/Mobile Defense Bay, Photon Eliminator, spoiler, left and right blast shields
- Rodimus Prime also had a presence in Kabaya's line of larger Transformers Gum model kits. Released as part of the line's fifth wave, Rodimus is molded in red, silver and black plastic, lacking in paint applications but featuring stickers for detail. Like many other Transformers Gum model kits, Rodimus is very much a downsized version of the regular toy, featuring all its accessories, features and (lack of) articulation. As the name suggests, rather than chocolate, Rodimus came with a stick of gum.
- Hot Rodimus (2011)
- ID number: 1
- Released in the fourth wave of the revived Transformers Gum series in 2011, this transforming model kit of Hot Rod is made from red, orange and black plastic, and decorated with quite a few stickers to add his familiar details. Taking its cues from Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy, the figure features an alternate Rodimus Prime head (well, a head with an alternate sticker), and can combine with his fully-transformable Mobile Defense Bay to form Rodimus's vehicle mode. The Defense Bay is assembled by collecting several additional parts available with the three different kits in the wave; its base comes with Inferno, its sides and Rodimus's Photon Eliminator come with Hot Rod himself, and its central turret comes with Victory Leo. The vehicle mode replicates the approach used by the Masterpiece figure, with Hot Rod slotting into the trailer backwards, and an alternate piece featuring Rodimus's shorter hood flips up from underneath the trailer and clips over the car's rear end.
- Rodimus Convoy (2011)
- This is the pieced together Rodimus Prime from the Transformers Gum series in 2011, with its parts from across the wave.
Transformers Milk Caramel
- Rodimus Convoy (1986)
- A small glow-in-the-dark rubber figurine of Rodimus—known in Japan as a keshigomu—was released as part of Kabaya's Transformers 2010-themed assortment of Transformers Milk Caramel candy toys. Rodimus came with chocolate-covered caramel candies, and was available in red, yellow, blue and green.
Transformers Ramune
- Rodimus Convoy (1986)
- Another keshigomu of Rodimums Rodimus Prime was available in the Transformers Ramune line by Kabaya, scaled to be reminiscent of the earlier line of figures that had been imported by Hasbro as Decoys. Like the other figures in this series, Rodimus came with fizzy "Ramune" candy, and was available in red, blue and yellow.
Forms Robo
- Rodimus Convoy (1987)
- Rodimus was also part of the small Japanese-exclusive Forms Robo collection of larger "Decoy"-style figures, with this version of the character standing at around twice the height of a regular Decoy. Like the other figures in this wave, Rodimus was packaged in an individual baggie and was available in red, blue, green and yellow.
Seven
- Rodimus Convoy vs Galvatron (multi-pack, 1986)
- One of several vinyl action figures produced by the Takara subsidiary Seven, Rodimus Prime was sold in a two-pack with a similar figure of Galvatron on a blister card. He featured articulation in his shoulders.
- Cybertron Leader Set (multi-pack, 1987)
- The Rodimus Prime figurine was also later made available in a two-pack with the Transform Jr Chromedome figure. The set also came with a small die-cast metal figurine of Metroplex.
Talkformers
- Rodimus Convoy (1986)
- Japanese ID number: T-01
- This vinyl figurine of Rodimus Prime was one of two entries in the Talkformers line. Featuring only two points of articulation in the shoulders, it spoke four pullstring-activated Japanese phrases, spoken by Rodimus's Japanese voice actor, Hiroya Ishimaru.
Super High-Breed Model
- Rodimus Convoy (1987)
- Japanese ID number: H-01
- Rodimus Convoy was one of three non-transforming Super High-Breed Model vinyl figurines created in 1987 by Takara. Standing at about eight inches tall and featuring articulation in the shoulders and neck, Rodimus and his fellows (Galvatron and Arcee) were based on their Studio OX character models, featuring much more anime-styled proportions and detailing.
- For reasons unknown, the retail release of Rodimus and the other Super High-Breed Model figures was canceled. While Galvatron was eventually released as an exclusive at BotCon Japan 1997, Rodimus and Arcee have never been officially released, though they do occasionally pop up on the secondary market, commanding prices in excess of $600.
Parody Deformed
- Rodimus Convoy (1990)
- Accessories: Photon Eliminator
- A small white and red, non-transforming super deformed model kit of Rodimus Prime was available as part of Kabaya's "Parody Deformed" line of candy toys. The first figure of the third wave (the eleventh figure overall), he came with a "PDTF Comic" comic about himself, "Take A Stand!! Rodimus Convoy", and more gum.
- Rodimus Convoy's Photon Eliminator (1990)
- The first toy released in the fifth and final wave of the Parody Deformed line (and the twenty-first toy overall), this model kit replica of Rodimus's Photon Eliminator comes with a number of small plastic BBs, which it can shoot via a spring-loaded firing mechanism. It came with a "PD Type" comic centering on it, and yet more gum.
MC Axis
- Hot Rod (model kit, 1996)
- Accessories: Matrix of Leadership, buzzsaw, welding torch, alternate head, alternate hands-holding-Matrix
- This Japanese "garage kit", an unpainted resin model, was made by MC Axis and came with a comic strip starring Hot Rod. It includes several interchangeable parts based on Hot Rod's antics in The Transformers: The Movie, including an alternate head featuring the telescopic visor from the Lookout Mountain scene, the welding torch he used to repair Kup and the buzzsaw from his battles on Quintessa, and two versions of the Matrix of Leadership—one standard, fairly useless one, since his clenched fists are unable to hold it, and one sculpted with a pair of alternate hands holding its handles, allowing Hot Rod to hoist it aloft.
- The kit is not known for its exceptional quality control—numerous unsightly air bubbles in the plastic are not an uncommon thing to encounter.
- The resin parts needs to be washed first to prevent the paint from smearing off.
Super Collection Figure
- Rodimus Convoy (2002)
- Act: 2
- Accessories: Stand
- A three-inch tall PVC figurine of Rodimus Prime was available in the second "Act" of Takara's Super Collection Figure line. Like all the figures in the "act", it was available as both a standard full color figure and a colorless translucent version, one of each of which was available in a standard case of twelve blindpacked figures.
- Matrix & Rodimus (2002)
- Act: 2
- Accessories: Stand
- A rare "Secret Figure" of Rodimus Prime was also available in the second SCF act, molded in translucent colored plastic and holding the Matrix of Leadership in both hands, in the process of opening it.
- He was presumably released at a ratio of one in every ten cases (this has not been officially confirmed, but later Acts would give those odds of finding Secret Figures). It is unknown which -if any specific- toy he replaced in the lucky case, though it's a safe guess it replaced the normal Rodimus figure.
- Rodimus Convoy (B) (2003)
- Act: 4
- Accessories: Stand
- The Matrix-bearing Rodimus chase figure was re-released as a standard figure for the fourth Super Collection Figure wave, this time as both a standard, solid-color figure and a metallic silver "pewter" version, both available at one each per standard case of twelve.
- In eight out of every ten cases, the pewter version of the figure came with the right leg of the wave's collectible Metroplex "build-a-figure"; this part could be either full-color or clear, at an equal ratio of 4:4.
- The pewter version of the figure has a potential problem with connector peg breakage, due to said pegs often getting a layer of pewter paint before being forced into a socket, leading to sticking and tearing. Care should be used when moving or removing the arms; shaving down the socket interior with a thin hobby knife is usually sufficient to fix the issue.
- Hot Rodimus (2003)
- Act: 6
- Accessories: Stand
- Regular old Hot Rod made his Super Collection Figure debut in the sixth wave of the series. This version has a new torso piece sporting a non-removable head with the telescopic visor he employed on Lookout Mountain in The Transformers: The Movie, and clenched-fist hands to replicate his "gun down the shuttle" pose. Hot Rod was available in both full-color and pewter versions at one each per case. The color version sports a number of minor deco differences from his Rodimus iterations, most notably a more peach-colored orange base plastic and gloss-black boots rather than matte. Sadly, they did not change the burgundy to a more screen-accurate magenta.
- In eight out of every ten cases, the pewter Hot Rod came with the torso of the wave's Grand Maximus collectible figure. This part could be in either full color or pewter, at a severely unequal ratio of six color parts to every two pewters.
Heroes of Cybertron
- Rodimus Prime (2003/2006)
- When Hasbro released the Super Collection Figure line as Heroes of Cybertron, the original Rodimus Prime figure was released as part of the fourth wave, now featuring a light-piping gimmick in the character's eyes, accomplished by casting the figure in translucent blue plastic and then painting over it.
- Rather than come blindpacked like the SCF figure, Rodimus came on a blister card with a profile card included.
- Rodimus was re-released in 2006 as part of a short-lived Heroes of Cybertron revival, celebrating the 2006 DVD release of the original The Transformers: The Movie, this time cast in solid rather than translucent plastic. Rodimus has a number of minor paint differences between this and his prior Heroes release as well: he only has a single shade of bright red, most of his light gray paint has been replaced with white, and his arm-pipes are now metallic silver.
Mega Super Collection Figure
- Hot Rodimus (2002)
- Japanese ID number: Mega SCF-04
- Known designers: Kazutami Yasuhiko (TakaraTomy)
- Accessories: Left and right open hands, left and right fists, head w/ visor, Matrix of Leadership, buzzsaw, welding torch
- A five-inch tall, non-transforming highly-articulated PVC figure of Hot Rod was the fourth entry in Takara's Mega Super Collection Figure. Based closely on Hot Rod's cartoon character model (albeit sporting the character's red and orange toy color scheme, rather than the cartoon's magenta), Hot Rod came with numerous interchangeable accessories. In addition to the Matrix of Leadership and two sets of hands—two clenched fists and two open palms—he includes several gadgets seen in The Transformers: The Movie: the buzzsaw used in battle on Quintessa, the welding torch he used to repair Kup, and an alternate head featuring an open-mouthed expression and the telescopic visor he used on Lookout Mountain.
- Rodimus Convoy (2002)
- Japanese ID number: Mega SCF-06
- Known designers: Kazutami Yasuhiko (TakaraTomy)
- Accessories: Left and right open hands, left and right fists, pointing left hand, right hand w/ Photon Eliminator, Matrix of Leadership
- Rodimus Prime also made an appearance in the Mega Super Collection Figure line, standing a little taller than Hot Rod. He too features his red and orange toy-based coloration, instead of the burgundy shade featured in the cartoon. He shares both the Matrix and two sets of hands with Hot Rod, but rather than Hot Rod's other tools, comes instead with a third set of hands, one pointing, and one clutching his Photon Eliminator rifle.
MyClone
- Rodimus Convoy (2003)
- Japanese ID number: MTF007
- Accessories: Orange display stand
- Known designers: Kazutami Yasuhiko (TakaraTomy)
- Released in the second wave of the MyClone line of Transformers PVC figures, this adorable widdle Wodimus Pwime comes with a hexagonal orange display stand, which can link up with the identical stands included with other MyClone figures. His modular design allows his parts to be mixed and matched with those of any other MyClone figure.
Hard Hero
- Hotrod (2003)
- Number 7 in Hard Hero's main Transformers series, "Hotrod" is a six inches tall cold-cast porcelain bust. The bust was limited to 4000 pieces, with an additional 100 being specially signed by sculptor Jason Ray, and is a vanishingly rare example of a piece of Hot Rod merchandise that actually colors the character in his original magenta hue.
Generation 1 Figure-Collection
- Rodimus Convoy (2003)
- Japanese ID number: D-6
- Accessories: Display base
- At only one inch in height, this Rodimus "bottlecap" figurine (so named because its display base is the size of a bottlecap) was one of fourteen blindpacked figures available in Kabaya's Transformers Generation 1 Figure-Collection. The figure was rendered in a "retro" black and white color scheme, and came with a leaflet, personalized with cartoon screen captures.
Titanium Series
- Rodimus (3-inch Robot Masters, 2006)
- Accessories: Firebolt gun, Autobot insignia display base
- Titanium Rodimus is a 3 inch tall, non-transforming, die-cast metal figurine. He has limited articulation, localized in his head, shoulders and waist. His gun (which looks an awful lot like Firebolt) is also removable. Excitement! Like all the figures in the line, he came packaged with a clear plastic display base, sculpted in the shape of, and decorated with, his faction's insignia.
First 4 Figures
- Hot Rod vs Ravage & Rumble (
2006unreleased)
- Known designers: Little IroN (concept artist), "Mad" Alterton (sculptor)
- Intended for release in the Transformers Battlefield line by model company First 4 Figures, this was to be 13-inch-ish tall diorama depicting Hot Rod fighting against Ravage and Rumble. As a Battlefield release, this model would have featured a detailed base designed to interlock with others in the same range to create a massive battle diorama. Unfortunately, a general discontinuation of First 4 Figures' Transformers-related output meant only the first model, "Optimus Prime vs Megatron", was released.
- All models in the Battlefield line were advertised as being sculpted by "Mad" Alterton, with a corresponding set of art posters by Little IroN, implying he had produced the concept art for each release. The digital sculpt for Hot Rod was reportedly shown to the toy news press at New York Toy Fair in 2006.[1] The set was likely intended to be limited to 1,850 pieces worldwide, given that the certificate of authenticity for the previous set allowed buyers to reserve the same numbered release on their next purchase in the series.
Metalverse Collection
- Hot Rodimus (Metalverse Collection MVC-01, 2007)
- Large, rather expensive PVC statue with a sculpted base released by Daiki Industry. Designed by Hirofumi Ichikawa and sculpted by Yuho Koike, it was originally conceived as a clock-statue (the clock would have gone in the nameplate/sigil section of the base) and proposed as a BotCon exclusive by Mr. Koike and Fumihiko Akiyama.
Art Asylum
- Unicron Movie Statue (Diamond Select, 2007)
- This Diamond Select statue of Hot Rod and Unicron stands 8 ½” tall and was limited to 1,986 pieces (as in 1986, the year the original animated Transformers movie was released). Hot Rod stands in the center of the piece, holding the Matrix of Leadership aloft, as Unicron looms behind him. Despite this scene being based on the movie, Hot Rod is colored red like his toy instead of magenta.
- Rodimus Prime head bust (Diamond Select, 2008)
- After the Unicron diorama, Rodimus got a statue all to himself with this Art Asylum mini-bust. It was roughly five inches tall and limited to 1500 pieces.
Robot Heroes
- Rodimus & Insecticon (Two-pack, 2007)
- Known designers: Bill Rawley (Hasbro), Marcelo Matere (concept artist)
- Robot Heroes Rodimus is a two inch tall figure sculpted in super deformed style with articulation at the shoulders. Sporting the color scheme of, and details based on the stickers of, the original Generation 1 Hot Rod toy, he came in a two-pack with "Insecticon".
- Rodimus was also one of the Robot Heroes figures released in single-packed, blindpacked form in other countries such as Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Notably, for this release, the character card included with the figure actually used his original name, Hot Rod!
- Hot Rod (Single-pack, 2008)
- In some countries outside of North America, Rodimus (renamed to Hot Rod) was released individually in a blindpack with no notable changes.
3D Battle-Card Game
- Hot Rod (2007)
- A 28-point "uncommon" character in the 3D Battle-Card Game's "Energon Wars" expansion, Hot Rod "transforms" into a red sports car that vaguely resembles a Ford GT 40. He uses the same parts layout as Movie Jazz, Smokescreen and Cliffjumper, along with fellow "Energon Wars" addition Armada Blurr.
Sota Toys
- Transformers Chess Set (
2007)
- A Rodimus piece opening the Matrix of Leadership was to be the Autobot-side Queen on a chess set based on Generation 1, but the set apparently never saw release.
Revoltech
- Hot Rodimus (2008)
- Yamaguchi Series number: 047
- Accessories: Photon laser 1, Photon laser 2, 4 x hands (left & right gun holding hands, right pointing hand and thumbs-up right hand)
- A non-transforming but highly articulated Hot Rod action figure, Revoltech Hot Rodimus uses the Revoltech "revolver joints" for maximum poseability. It comes with his twin handguns, an extra head with deployed visor and a more neutral expression, a posing stand, and four extra hands (two hands for holding the guns, a pointing right hand, and a thumbs-up left hand).[2][3]
Thrilling 30
- Rodimus (Collectible Figurine, 2014)
- Series / Number: 2 / #20

- Collectible Figurines (5-pack, 2014)
- Series: 2
- Accessories: 5 collector's bases
- The same Rodimus figurine was also available in a 5-pack alongside Bumblebee, Shockwave, Ultra Magnus and Grimlock.
ES Gōkin
- Rodimus Convoy (2015)
- Accessories: Photon eliminator, display stand
- Art Storm produced a posable super-deformed Rodimus Prime figure as part of their ES Gōkin series. He comes with his photon eliminator weapon and can hold the Matrix accessory that comes with ES Gōkin Optimus Prime.
My Busy Books
- Transformers: My Busy Book (2017)
- This Hot Rod is a pair of small, PVC non-transforming figurines consists of his robot mode (in his evergreen design) and his race car alternate mode. Like most of the land-based vehicle figurines from this line, his wheels do not roll. These figures were available with a 10-page board book, a box of 12 figurines, and a playmat with depictions of a destroyed city and Cybertron.
- In terms of quality control, the figurines' paint applications can be...well, almost not entirely shoddy (especially the flame decal/insignia combination on his vehicle hood).
- For whatever reason, Hot Rod's alt mode figurine is not included with the Brazilian edition of the book.
Soldier Story
- Unicron (2017)
- Accessories: Unicron with base, Hot Rod with clear stand, remote control, USB power cable
- Soldier Story Toys released a table lamp of Unicron and Hot Rod. Equipped with the Matrix of Leadership, Hot Rod stands approximately 6" tall, positively dwarfed by the 26" Unicron standing right behind him. The set is bedecked with over 70 LEDs of various colors and also projects the Decepticon insignia above it.
Imaginarium Art
- Rodimus Prime (2018)
- Imaginarium Art's statue of Rodimus Prime stands 31 inches tall, featuring 2 different heads for alternate facial expressions, as well as two different sets of arms - one pointing while holding his rifle, the other grasping the Matrix of Leadership. Only 400 were produced.
- The design seems to have been based off the unlicensed "Carry" figure... oops.

- Rarity: UT
- Card Number: T04/T46

The reverse of Autobot Hot Rod, Impulsive Fighter depicts the upper left portion of Optimus Maximus', of whom Hot Rod forms the chest piece.
- The artwork for Bot Mode is reused from the Transformers Legends mobile game.

Flame Toys
Kuro Kara Kuri
- Rodimus (IDW ver.) (January 2023)
- Accessories: Photon Eliminator Rifle, Rod / sword, Drill Hook with Wire, Beam Effect, 5 hand sets, 4 faces, Lightning Bow (exclusive)
- Sculptor: Yuki Onoda
- Coloring: rando. (OVERSTAND)
- Kuro Kara Kuri Rodimus is a high-end collectible action figure from Flame Toys. He is based on the design by Alex Milne as seen in More than Meets the Eye, similar to the Furai Model version (see below). However this version is a lot more stylized, with die-cast and LEDs in his eyes, chest, and shoulders. Owners build up Rodimus' body ornamentation around a relatively simple "interior" figure to build either Rodimus, or a bulked up Rodimus Prime
- The set includes a huge sword accessory that doubles as a fishing rod, as well as a rifle and four alternate faces with different expressions (calm, grimacing, shouting, smirking). If purchased via D4toys.com, SEN-TI-DEN Hong Kong, or events attended by Flame Toys, he also includes a Powered Lightning Bow.
Furai Model
- Rodimus (IDW ver.) (July 2021)
- Number: 17
- Additional accessories: 2 pairs of hands (gun-holding, open-palm), 2 "Photon Lasers", 1 pair of exhaust pipes
- Released as part of the Furai Model line by Flame Toys and based on the design by Alex Milne, as seen in More than Meets the Eye, Rodimus is an articulated, non-transforming, Voyager Class-sized Gunpla-style model kit that uses hard ABS plastic and some polycaps.
- For straight-assembly builders, Rodimus features a sheet of foil stickers for detail (notably the chest insignia), though the kit can be panel-lined and touched-up with several panel-lining and paint markers (water/acrylic-based markers are recommended, as alcohol-based markers like Gundam Markers can potentially damage the ABS plastic). If one desires; the kit's pieces, aside from the translucent parts, can be fully coated with spray paints to recreate the finished sample seen in the stock photos.

- Accessories: 2 guns

He comes with two weapons, based on the ones from his original 1986 toy.
- As with all releases in the ReAction toyline, Hot Rod comes packaged on a small cardback that emulates the nostalgic packaging style of Kenner's Star Wars action figures from the late 1970s to early '80s.

Eaglemoss
- Transformers Gen-1 Chess Set (
2021)
- In the planned Transformers Chess Set by Eaglemoss, a relatively large and very well detailed statue of Hot Rod was slated to be one of the standard Knight pieces on the Autobot side.
- A separate piece, this time portraying Rodimus Prime opening the Matrix of Leadership, was also going to be included as a replacement King piece for higher-paying backers.
- A Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds for this project was launched, but failed to meet its goal by September 24, 2021 and the whole thing was canceled.

Despite that, the pack is branded as Pop! Television instead of Retro Toys, which would've made more sense for it. Ultimetal
- Rodimus Prime (2022)
- ID Number: S-01
- Accessories: Alternate head, alternate spoiler, alternate shoulders (2), guns (2), Matrix of Leadership (2), stand
- First revealed at the Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong 2021 expo, Ultimetal Rodimus Prime is a highly articulated 12" figure made largely from die-cast metal. It is sculpted to resemble his anime-styled Studio OX character model. The figure can be modified to depict both Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime: it includes two heads, two quite different spoiler designs, different shoulder builds, two Hot Rod handguns that can merge into Rodimus' photon eliminator, and extending legs that change its overall height by about 1 centimeter. It also has two Matrix-es of Leadership: a large one meant for the robot to hold, with an opening gem housing lit by an internal LED, and a small one that when inserted into Hot Rod's chest causes his shoulders to broaden for the Rodimus form.
- The package write-up repeats the "Range: 4 miles" error from the original G1 toy's box.
XM Studios
- Rodimus Prime (2022)
- XM Studios' statue of Rodimus Prime is 36" tall, made of hand-painted porcelain. Rodimus has light-up eyes and two different versions of each arm, allowing owners to pose him alternately holding his two small guns, large rifle, and Matrix of Leadership. The set also includes a sculpted representation of Hot Rod's car mode that can be displayed next to the robot.
- 300 pieces were produced, with a suggested price of about $1,700 US.
Threezero
- Rodimus Prime (MDLX, 2023)
- Known designers: Kelvin Sau
- Accessories: one "Laser Blaster", one "Blaster Rifle", eight pairs of hands
- Threezero's fourth figure for their MDLX lineup, this version of Rodimus Prime is an original design taking inspiration from the original cartoon but with the aesthetics in the vein of the live-action movies. Rodimus is a smaller scaled, non-transforming action figure in the vein of contemporary collector-oriented lines like Figma and S.H. Figuarts. Like those lines, the figure is extremely well-articulated and detailed, features accessories interchangeable hands. He comes with a whopping eight pairs of hands: two closed fists, two blaster-holding hands, two open hands, two Matrix- (and rifle-) holding hands, thumbs-up & pointing left hands, and two right handshake hands (one for him, the other for Optimus Prime). While he does not include the Matrix of Leadership, he does have his two photon eliminators ("Laser Blaster" and "Blaster Rifle") which can combine into a very long rifle.
