Grimlock (ES)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Grimlock" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Grimlock (disambiguation). |
- Grimlock is an Autobot from the EarthSpark continuity family.
A veteran of the Transformers war, Grimlock is one of the physically strongest and most imposing Autobots, whether in his robot mode or his fire-breathing tyrannosaurus rex beast mode. As scary as he may seem, he's a good guy through and through, and happy to nurture and encourage the new generation of Cybertronians. He values strength, not just physical, but filling his charges with confidence and the spirit to find themselves. This guidance has brought him close to the gentle Jawbreaker, who scanned a dinosaur alternate mode in emulation of him.
Grimlock's most powerful and dangerous trait, however, is his anger. Able to channel his fury into a "rage mode" that makes him an unstoppable engine of destruction, he becomes a potential threat to even his closest allies when his optics go from blue to red. While he's usually able to control his anger, prolonged time in his dinosaur mode can disrupt his system, and the traumas he's suffered carry triggers, meaning those around him have to be careful not to set him off.

Grimlock was one of the many Autobots to participate in the war against the Decepticons. Initially battling on Cybertron, he would follow Optimus Prime and the other Autobots to Earth via the space bridge. Secret Legacy, Part 1
Sent on a mission to infiltrate an underground fighting ring known as Bot Brawl, Grimlock soon found himself under the control of an anti-Cybertronian scientist known as Mandroid, thanks to a cognitive control badge, and made the "champion" of Bot Brawl. Bumblebee was sent in to find out what happened to the lost Dinobot after months of no contact. The two ended on fighting until Bumblebee, with aide from Malto family members Mo, Thrash, and Jawbreaker, were able to free Grimlock from his control badge. Upon being freed, the surly mechanical T-Rex went on a fire-breathing rampage that destroyed most of the arena and sent its human audiences fleeing. Deciding to let him cool off, Bumblebee and his allies departed. When they returned Grimlock was long gone. Home, Part 1 Home, Part 2
Still suffering the after effects of the mind control, Grimlock eventually reached Witwicky and pursued the Malto kids until they were able to knock him out with Twitch's EMP. After he recovered, Elita-1 suggested he train the Terrans, and so he ended up helping Jawbreaker, who was determined to prove his worth in combat. Jawbreaker was oblivious to the fact that his enthusiasm was causing Grimlock to experience flashbacks, until finally Grimlock snapped, reverting to dino mode and going on a rampage in Witwicky. While Elita-1 and Hashtag did their best to try to rein in the Dinobot, eventually it was Jawbreaker who was able to talk him down peacefully. A Stygi Situation
Grimlock joined Optimus and other Autobots in answering Hashtag's distress call, arriving at the Malto farm to battle the Ghoid soldiers. Though they were victorious, Croft activated a Mandroid-supplied device that shut down Grimlock and the other Autobots present. The Battle of Witwicky They were still unconscious when Mandroid arrived back from space in a new semi-robotic form. The Last Hope, Part 1 Mandroid remotely reactivated Grimlock and the others, placing them under his control and sending them to intercept the Maltobots who were heading to thwart his plans. Grimlock, Arcee and Wheeljack attempted to trap the group on a bridge, resulting in Bumblebee and Schloder battling them to allow the others to go ahead. Ultimately Mandroid was able to activate the superweapon he'd created, deactivating Grimlock until Robby and Mo successfully used their cyber-sleeves to revive the Autobots. The Last Hope, Part 2
A year after Mandroid's defeat Grimlock was one of the Autobots that presided over the Polyhex Protocol challenge for Twitch and Spitfire. For dramatic effect, he lent his fire breath to the obstacle course. He was present when Megatron declared Twitch to be the winner. Spitfire Grimlock, with the other Autobots, stormed the Decepticon base to recover the remaining Embershards. During the fight he tussled with Skullcruncher. He was frozen in place with the other Autobots by the power of the corrupted Emberstone. He was returned to normal when the Emberstone was destroyed. Witwicky, Part 2
