Synopsis

Chase finishes his lecture on medical matters and has Tough Luck Chuck help test the recruits on diagnosing common injuries. Once that's done, he congratulates all six of them on their knowledge, and the five recruits are confused until they realize he's including Chuck. The recruits are later trying to organize even teams for a Cube match and invite Cody to join them. Cody points out it's too dangerous for him as a human, and instead suggests Chuck. As he heads off to find Chuck, the recruits are suddenly bombarded by a commercial for Dig Fest which is now featuring a "Bot Battle". Hot Shot is immediately set on entering the event and unsuccessfully tries to convince Wedge to do so as well. Chuck arrives to play Cube, but Hot Shot is now set winning Bot Battle instead and when Chuck announces "easy!" to this idea, Hot Shot sarcastically suggests he go enter as well. As the recruits watch the stream from Dig Fest, the MC announces the first competitor — Chuck has used the GroundBridge to head there and enter, having taken Hot Shot literally. The recruits lament that Chuck can't battle other bots, but Hot Shot is confident he can save Chuck and win.

Hot Shot GroundBridges backstage as Chuck faces off against two other robots, managing to win by virtue of ducking right as the two robots fire, so they take each other out. Hot Shot uses parts to fashion himself a robot disguise so he can enter as well. As part of the last qualifying round, he faces off against Vacuumbot and Fun Droid 3 and manages to win when his two opponents take each other out. This just leaves the final, with Hot Shot and Chuck up against the Eviscerator. Hot Shot tells Chuck to get out of there, however as he tries to protect Chuck, the Eviscerator swats him away and slams a claw down on Chuck. Chuck, being a crash test dummy, is built for abuse and successfully defeats the Eviscerator by blinding it and sending it careening into a wall. Chuck is pronounced winner.

Hot Shot returns to the Academy with Chuck and Chuck's winners trophy, at which point the recruits apologize for underestimating Chuck. They present Chuck with a Rescue Bot insignia, and head off to watch footage of Hot Shot being defeated by a vacuum cleaner.

Trivia

  • Cybertronian on Whirl's HUD as she scans Chuck reads "INJURY", "PROBLEM", "HURT" and the more generic "SEARCHING", "DANGER" and "INFRARED". Speaking of, why are Chuck's insides hot?
  • The Dig Fest commercial reuses the background from the commercial in the season 1 episode, and as such the Cybertronian text again reads "CRUSHER" and "WAR ZONE". The nonsense text "BUXJ" appears on top right, while the bottom right text isn't recognizable Cybertronian.
  • Hot Shot pretends to be a robot (the non-sentient, human-made kind) to infiltrate Bot Battle. The original Rescue Bots also pretended to be non-sentient machines in Rescue Bots. He also does so with an exclamation of "Robots in Disguise", which is one of the Transformers franchise's taglines, as everyone should know by now.
