I really wish I had a mouth...

Blazemaster is thought by many of his Autobot comrades to be haywire. He will fly over Decepticons, intentionally alerting them of his presence. Once that's done, he starts dropping corrosive gel on them, watching as they run for their lives. You can point out to him that he's just causing collateral damage, but as far as Blazemaster's concerned, his type of hard-and-fast action saves lives and you can shove it!

All right! Thanks, Jon!

Blazemaster was working with NEST in Cairo, trying to bring in the escaped Reverb. The Decepticon knew of Blazemaster, who decided to cut off his retreat with a huge-ass wall of FIERY DEATH and then blew him through a building with a bomb strike. Blazemaster was then a bit shocked to find NEST weren't happy that he'd set a huge part of Cairo on effing fire rather than following the "contained capture" briefing. He snarled back that he was the type of go-getting hardass who got things done and didn't mess about with all that second-guessing pencil-pusher stuff that got people killed, only to be told by NEST's Klammer that Blazemaster's actions were just turning public opinion against them.

The Autobot bravely went for a sulk, deciding from that putdown and the growing anti-Autobot feeling that his talents were wasted on Earth and he should leave. To his surprise, he was then intercepted by Skywarp...who, despite a brief clash, revealed he wasn't trying to fight him but recruit him for Bludgeon's paramilitary. His actions in Cairo showed he had potential! Blazemaster was horrified that the Decepticons thought he was a natural for their unit and rejected the offer, but Skywarp flew off, telling him to live with the fact that he had all the credentials to be a villain... Turn and Burn

Nefarious6 Blazemaster.JPG

Blazemaster, at some point, was captured and brainwashed by the Initiative into being one of their soldiers. His colours were bleached out and he was thrown at an Autobot/NEST team in the Initiative's final battle. Nefarious #5 Nefarious #6

Along with the other ex-brainwashed Autobots, he was eager to return to battle, but Optimus told them they still needed to recuperate after the mental trauma they'd suffered. Rising Storm #1 While Optimus and his team went to save Sam Witwicky from a Decepticon attack, Blazemaster and the other refugees remained on Diego Garcia, nostalgically staring at pictures from Cybertron's past. In their docile state, they were found and killed by Shockwave. Rising Storm #3 Shortly after his death, a grave was made for him. Dark of the Moon #1

It's all fun and games until the zombies show up and we all have to pile onto this guy and head for the nearest shopping mall...
  • Blazemaster (Deluxe Class, 2009)
  • TakaraTomy ID number: RA-18
  • Accessories: Two-part rotor/spinning combat blade
  • Known designers: Hisashi Yuki (TakaraTomy)
Blazemaster transforms into a gold and blue Eurocopter Dauphin helicopter. The cockpit has translucent blue plastic, through which Blazemaster's head is amusingly visible. "Channel 7 Action News" tampographs are on both sides of the fuselage, and "7 News" tampos on the tail. The top propeller can be spun using a gear-driven action by pressing the small blue button just under it. The tail rotor cannot move.
In robot mode, the top rotor can be used as a spinning weapon, or split in half to sit on both arms. There are some issues with this, however, as the propeller does not like to sit in the position shown in the instructions (it tends to rotate down), and the second piece does not fit snugly into its socket, which has one side open to accommodate conversion. There are also a pair of thumbs inside the engine cowling halves that convert into Blazemaster's arms, despite him not having actual hands.
Blazemaster's deco is different from the stock toy photograph shown on the back of the card, which shows many of the white areas colored gold.
This sculpt was also used to make Revenge of the Fallen Evac, 2010 Transformers Tailwhip and 2014 Transformers Protectobot Blades.

Notes

ROTF Springer concept.jpg
  • Blazemaster's robot mode draws heavily upon Ben Procter's design for an Osprey Autobot dropped from the Revenge of the Fallen film, which received Legends Class and Robot Hero toys under the name Springer. With no "full-size" Springer toy otherwise appearing in the Revenge of the Fallen toyline, one could speculate that Blazemaster might have begun life as another Springer toy, but received a new alternate mode, and in turn a new identity, somewhere along the line.
  • During part of 2010, Hasbro did a promotion wherein US fans could receive three free Deluxes in exchange for receipts showing the purchase of $25 or more of select Transformers product. As noted in this thread over at Allspark.com, and later confirmed by this listing here, Blazemaster was one of a pool of eight figures (all from the same wave) from which the free Deluxes were drawn, with several people having noted receiving him.
  • The only U.S. television station using the "Channel 7 Action News" name is WXYZ-TV in Detroit; the logo doesn't match up at all with the station's real look (they've used the famous "circle 7" logo dating back to when they were owned by ABC), which at the time of release was mainly a copper/orange color (as part of a corporate look mandated by owner EW Scripps; this was replaced in 2012 with a white and blue look). No word on if their traffic copter (which is shared with the local NBC and Fox stations as part of a money-saving agreement, and has a red paintjob) is actually a pyromaniac space robot.
