The ancient Headmasters (under the command of Nexus Prime) were a faction in the First Cybertronian Civil War. It was on day 43 of the Battle of Aegiax that Galvatron, a Cybertronian hailing from Protohex, engaged Myskrion and his cohorts. Galvatron saw the combination of the humanoid-shaped and the animal-form Cybertronians as an abomination, prompting his entry into the war. Emerging victorious after being seriously injured by a polearm carried by Myskrion, Galvatron would rise to fame for his role in defeating the ancient Headmasters. The Mind Bomb Unbeknownst to most, he fought all the way to the castle of Nexus Prime himself and slew the member of the Thirteen original Primes. The Crucible

Alpha Trion approached Galvatron just after the Battle of Aegiax to propose that the ancient barbarian unite the thirteen warring tribes of Cybertron, with the defeat of the Headmasters paving the way for this unity to occur. The Mind Bomb Word spread of Galvatron's feat at Aegiax, with Nova Major recognizing Galvatron by his achievement when the two joined forces at the Siege of the Citadel of Light. The Crucible
