Backtrack was with Overload and Ransack when the latter attacked a young Slipstream, stealing from him a ball bearing. The Tragedy of Slipstream Backtrack was eventually incarcerated onboard the Alchemor when it crash-landed on Earth, and was freed from his stasis pod when Fracture had his own Mini-Con companions tear it open. Upon emerging, Backtrack displayed little interest towards the Decepticons... but plenty towards the rocks strewn about nearby. Fracture tried to have Backtrack swear allegiance to him, only for Ransack to unexpectedly emerge from the pod. Both Cyclones then beat up Fracture (with Backtrack using his newly acquired rocks as handy projectiles) and then rolled away. Knock, Knock! Bumblebee and his team soon thereafter detected Backtrack and Ransack's signals. The Power of Dibs
Backtrack and Ransack resisted further attempts on Fracture's part to recruit them, knocking the Decepticon into unconsciousness before provoking Airazor and Divebomb into chasing them. Back and Forth Their pursuers were intercepted by the Autobot Mini-Cons Jetstorm and Slipstream, who began to squabble with their Decepticon counterparts over which had the best claim to the Cyclones. Backtrack and Ransack quickly lost interest, becoming mesmerized by some nearby rocks. But when Slipstream was knocked into a rock mound they had built, the Cyclones turned their firepower on all four of the other Mini-Cons, forcing them to take cover. A Level Playing Field When the aligned Mini-Cons emerged from their hiding place, they managed to work together long enough to defeat both Backtrack and Ransack. The Cyclones were then taken back to the Autobot base to be put in stasis lock. Two Plus Two Equals More

Freed from their stasis pods by a fight with Overload, Backtrack and Ransack spied on the rest of the battle. They tailed the Decepticon who was heading for Crown City, and teamed up with him. Overloaded, Part 1 The pair hung out with Overload until Bumblebee convinced them that they had nothing in common with the Decepticon, and they happily started hitting him with pots and pans. Bumblebee was later able to lead them back to the scrapyard. Overloaded, Part 2 When Overload escaped the scrapyard after being freed by Steeljaw, Backtrack and Ransack were left behind by their old master. Misdirection
Backtrack's stasis pod was later taken back to Cybertron by Optimus Prime, Windblade and Ratchet. Decepticon Island (Part 2)

Toys
Robots in Disguise (2015)
- Overload & Backtrack (Deployer, 2015)
- TakaraTomy name: Overload with Micron Backtrack
- TakaraTomy release date: May 28, 2016
- Takara ID Number: TAV46
- Accessories: Armor sprue (left & right blasters, jetpack, crest armor, 4 "legs")
- Available only with the large Robots in Disguise Deployer Overload toy, Backtrack transforms into a mechanical "Cyclone" sphere. In this mode, he can be loaded into the launchers of Overload or Crazybolt and launched at targets. He features snap-on energon armor that he can wear in both robot and sphere modes, even when loaded into a launcher.
- His robot mode does not have a way to lock into its fully extended robot mode, which might cause him to retract slightly when stood upright.
- In Japan, Backtrack was also a pack-in with Overload, released in wave 15 of the TakaraTomy Adventure line, under the Prime of Micron sub-branding. This version of Backtrack is more thoroughly-deco'd, and slightly retooled, adding a rather intrusive 5 mm post to his back so he can be... used as a hand-held cudgel? Who knows. Also, his armor sprue is cast in clear-blue plastic rather than clear-orange.
- This mold was also used to make Ransack.
- Mini-Con 4-Pack (Multi-pack, 2015)
- Accessories: Armor sprue (left & right blasters, jetpack, crest armor, 4 "legs")
- This version of Backtrack, dubbed "Blizzard Strike Backtrack", is an ice-themed redeco of the Mini-Con. He is also lucky enough to keep his armor sprue, which is a more reddish shade of orange than the original Hasbro version above.
- This four-pack, the first of several, also comes with Scorch Strike Beastbox, Blizzard Strike Swelter, and Scorch Strike Undertone.
