Armored Convoy
From Transformers Wiki
- The Armored Convoy is an Action Master vehicle from the toyline portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Armored Convoy is a gigantic truck that Optimus Prime drives. The cab portion becomes an interceptor shuttle, while the trailer unfolds into a battle station with communications and warfare capabilities.
It's armed with a photon cannon, heat-seeking "buzz bombs," a disintegration laser, and double-barreled "pom-pom" cannons. Sadly, it does not turn into a robot itself. That would be craaaazy recursive.
There are probably few Earth roads that it can fit on. Well, maybe in the city where "B.O.T." takes place.

The Transformers
- Armored Convoy with Optimus Prime (Action Master, 1990)
- Accessories: 2 Laser Guns, Galactic Pulverizer Gun Barrels, 4 Blaster Cannons, 2 Energon Exhaust Stack, Photon Bazooka
- Known designers: Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- The largest of the Action Master toys, the Armored Convoy is a great big convoy, truckin' through the night. The cab of the truck transforms into a small jet that can seat one Action Master figure, while the trailer itself converts into a larger battle station with turrets that several Action Masters can man.
- The trailer unfolds into a large battle station with lots of weapon-mounting points. The rear spoiler-section of the trailer can seat two Action Master figures, while the other battlements and foot-pegs offer many places to station other figures. The central "engine" of the trailer has a pair of flip-out (non-firing) cannons.
- The Armored Convoy was later redecoed as the Microman: LED Powers toy Micro Trailer – sans Optimus Prime, natch – which also received two separate Lucky Draw toys as the Dark Trailer and Flame Trailer. Now we really do got a great big convoy.
Notes
- "Convoy" was the Japanese name for Optimus Prime at the time this toy was released, which may or may not have influenced the vehicle's name.
- The hand-painted prototype of the Armored Convoy used for catalog photography overlaid silver on parts of the truck that ended up different colors on the final toy.
Foreign names
- Italian: Super Convoglio Armato ("Super Armored Convoy")
