Armistice

From Transformers Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The Armistice was a containment measure imposed upon the Cybertronian wars by the Human Confederacy. The Armistice limited the spread of Cybertronian conflict to an Allowed Zone of space, containing the Great War to Cybertron itself and nine established colonies. Having greatly surpassed the Cybertronians in mere decades of shared history, the Terrans were more than capable of enforcing this containment with brutal efficiency.

Fiction

Beast Wars: Uprising

The planet Nebulos became one of the main battlegrounds in the war between the Autobots and Decepticons, as the development of Headmaster and Targetmaster technology advanced on both sides. The creation of binary-bonded Megamasters like Fortress Maximus and Megazarak, however, pushed the war beyond the planet's ability to sustain. The devastation caused by these grappling Titans and related escalation became known as the Scouring of Nebulos, apparently leaving the planet devoid of life and incapable of restoration. Head Games A Brush With Infamy–Prologue

The Human Confederacy, ostensibly allies of the Autobots at the start of the Nebulan conflict, placed blame for Nebulos on the Cybertronians as a whole and instituted the Armistice. All Autobots and Decepticons were to be permanently contained within the new Allowed Zone of space, a sector containing Cybertron itself and nine colonies inhabited by various Cybertronians. After successfully conquering the colony of Rebirth and renaming it Master, Galvatron turned his attention back to the Terrans and attempted to breach the Allowed Zone blockade in the Great Push. Micro-Aggressions A Brush With Infamy–Prologue

He failed. Epically. Not only did the Human Confederacy destroy the invasion fleet, they imposed new borders for the Allowed Zone, cutting permitted Cybertronian space in half. Five of the colony worlds remained outside the new border. Cybertronians were given ten days to evacuate, and then the Terrans sterilized the colonies of all life still present. A Brush With Infamy–Prologue

The Armistice apparently extended even to deliberate transmissions out of the Allowed Zone, for Cerebros reportedly broke protocol by reaching out to the humans about the Eutychus Project. Head Games

More than two hundred years later, the Human Confederacy still patrolled the borders of the Allowed Zone, making occasion shows of force to keep the Cybertronians contained. Intersectionality

Notes

  • Reference to a human-imposed blockade of Cybertron was first mentioned off-hand by Eject in "Broken Windshields". The term "armistice" was first used by Cerebros in "Head Games".
