Synopsis
Heatwave has brought in Mayor Luskey, who has an important mission for the recruits—help with Griffin Rock's Play in the Park event. Wedge is the only one not excited, believing that staging a play is not a productive use of their time. They report to the stage, where they meet play director Francois, who tells them they're putting on a production of "Jack and the Beanstalk". Wedge is even more taken aback when it turns out the recruits are going to be the cast rather than backstage crew. Francois assigns roles and hands out the scripts, and the recruits return to the Academy where Wedge vents that the play is not useful training. Medix believes it will be useful disguise practice for when they're doing rescue work in Milford, and Hoist points out Heatwave has assigned it as their mission so they have to do it anyway.
The recruits report for dress rehearsal. Wedge's golden goose acting is not great, and to make his mood worse, he spots a squirrel that he thinks is laughing at him. He continues, but during his attempt at egg laying, the squirrel starts throwing acorns at him, and the creature continues to plague him during the rest of the rehearsal. Afterwards, Francois keeps Wedge back for some extra tutelage. Wedge later arrives back at the Academy to find that the other recruits have had a Cube game in his absence, with Grimlock substituting for Wedge. Wedge explodes at the injustice of it all and stalks off. The other find him in the gym playing Cube by himself, and Whirl startles him, causing him to take a tumble. He initially says he's fine, but when they remind him it's time to head to the park for the play, he fakes an injury, suggesting they take Grimlock to play the golden goose instead.
The recruits observe the audience at the park and the fact they're missing Wedge. Wedge, meanwhile, is confessing to Heatwave that he faked the injury. Heatwave thinks Wedge can get over his nervousness if he tries, and maybe the squirrel was not taunting him after all. Thinking back, Wedge realizes the squirrel was trying to warn him of something. He hurries back to the park, arriving mid-play and realizes the stage is in danger of collapsing. The recruits swing into action, which turns out to be much more entertaining for the audience than the play was. Grimlock manages to prevent the giant golden egg from crushing the audience who applaud the cast. Afterwards, Wedge apologizes for chickening out of the play.

Notes
Continuity notes
- Heatwave mentions that Wedge was nervous when he first came to the Academy, believing his construction vehicle mode wasn't suitable for rescue work. This is in contrasted to "Recruits Part I", in which Wedge mocks Hot Shot for his choice of alternate mode.

Real-world references
- Medix paraphrases Hamlet with the line "To Bumblebee or not to Bumblebee".
- "Jack and the Beanstalk" is a classic English fairy tale. As in this episode, pantomime versions of the story traditionally have a woman playing Jack and a man in drag playing Jack's mother.
- The house falling on Hot Shot replicates a Buster Keaton stunt from Steamboat Bill.
Animation and technical errors

Trivia
- Wedge uses "Sprockets!" as a general swear substitution. Which, we guess, means Sprocket can be added to the list of Transformers who has a swear word for a name.
