Hmmm...
To do:
When on the naming screen, an "ED" graphic (short for END, was used on the naming screen in Medarot 1) appears in VRAM. This might be a leftover from Medarot 1, unless it is used on some other screen. Check if this is unused or not.

Test Mode

Medarot 2 Test Mode.png

On the title screen, press A or Start, then make sure Select is held down during the fadeout afterwards. On this screen, a fully functional sound test will become available. Also, the third option is for erasing all saved data instantly. Choose the last option to exit back to the title screen.

Debugging Features

VRAM & Sound Test

Medarot 2 VRAM Debug.png
Medarot 2 Sound Test.png

Set RAM address C3E0 to 30 and C3E1 to 00 to view a VRAM viewer. (One way to do this is to use GameShark codes 0130E0C3 and 0100E1C3.) This will display the VRAM in 3 parts. Press A to view the next part.

After the last part is viewed, the game will load a sound test with glitched graphics. Functionally, this debugging feature works similarly to the VRAM and Sound Test in Medarot 1. However, while the sound test is functional, it also contains graphical issues not present in Medarot 1. The tiles (other than the numeric IDs for the music and sound effects) are uninitialized, and so are the color palettes. Due to the lack of initialization, unlike Medarot 1, there doesn"t appear to be any way to make the text appear: there is no character mapping for Medarot 2"s sound test, so there will always be blank text to the left of the music and sound IDs. The cursor also has a glitched graphic.

However, the sound test is still functional: Press Up and Down to select the music or sound effect ID, and press A to play it. Press Select to move the cursor between music and sound effects. Pressing Start restarts the game. Curiously, the numeric IDs are different from the ones found in the normally accessible sound test from pressing Select + Start from the title screen.

While later Medarot games, as well as Keitai Denjuu Telefang (which was also developed by Natsume), would also have a VRAM test, they aren"t followed by a sound test.

Debug Menu

Medarot 2 Debug.png

Set RAM address C3E0 to 31 and C3E1 to 00 to view a debug menu. (One way to do this is to use GameShark codes 0131E0C3 and 0100E1C3.)

Submenus

Hmmm...
To do:
Investigate further what some of these options do. Also, take screenshots of some of the sub-menus.
Cacti speak Japanese.
...But what does it mean?
This game has text or audio that needs to be translated. If you are fluent with this language, please read our translation guidelines and then submit a translation!
