Create scripts & voiceovers in Google Vids (Workspace Labs)

Important: This article refers to Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI Features. To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.

Create and generate scripts to use in the Vids recording studio to use for voiceovers, video clips, and narrated screen recordings.

Create a script

Use scripts in Vids record with a teleprompter in the Vids recording studio.

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Above the timeline, click Script  to open the script sidebar.
    1. Tip: If you use the Gemini feature, you can also use ‘'Help me create” to generate a first draft of your video. It includes a suggested script by scene. You can edit and update generated scripts or write your own after you add new scenes. If you use “Help me create,” you can also add your own scripts or update generated scripts.   3. Write a script in the side panel.

      1. Your script automatically saves for future use.

Record your script

  1. On your computer, open a video Google Vids.
  2. Above the timeline, click Script to open the script sidebar.
  3. To manually record your script, below the script panel, click Record myself.

Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
