In addition to blocking ads, ad blocking extensions may occasionally block user messages, including European regulations messages and US state regulations messages. You can include the error protection code between the <head>
and </head>
tags in your site's HTML to let site visitors know when a user message is being blocked.
When the error protection code is present in your site's HTML, Google consent management solutions will display a backup message to site visitors if the following conditions are met:
- Visitors have ad blocking software or an extension installed, and
- Requests to Google consent management solutions are blocked or interfered with.
If both of these conditions are met, visitors will see the following message (always in English):
You are seeing this message because ad or script blocking software is interfering with this page. Disable any ad or script blocking software, then reload this page.
This message is pinned to the bottom of your site's pages. It doesn't prevent site visitors from viewing your content. Note that this message may be displayed even if you don't currently have an ad blocking recovery message published on your site.
