Change settings in News on Mac
You can change options in Apple News settings to customise your experience.
In the News app on your Mac, choose News > Settings.
Note: Apple News and Apple News aren’t available in all countries or regions. See the Apple Support article Availability of Apple Media Services.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Restrict stories in Today | Show only stories from channels you follow in the Today and other feeds. This option limits the variety of stories that appear in feeds; Top Stories and Trending Stories aren’t shown. |
Restrict stories with explicit content | Don’t show any stories that are marked as explicit. |
Automatically download issues | If you subscribe to Apple News , automatically download the most recent issue of magazines you follow, to read even when you’re not connected to the internet. If you don’t want issues automatically downloaded, deselect the tickbox. Note: Issues are automatically downloaded only when News is open, you’re connected to the internet and your Mac is plugged into a power source. |
Sync My Sports | Follow your teams and other sporting interests across Apple News, Apple TV and other Apple apps. My Sports allows you to have one sports experience across your Apple apps and devices. The teams and other sporting interests you follow sync across supported Apple apps and devices when you’re signed in with the same Apple ID. Note: For more information about My Sports, choose Help > My Sports & Privacy. |
By default, Siri suggests channels, topics and stories in News, and learns from the way you use News to make suggestions across other apps. To stop these suggestions, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Siri & Spotlight in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Click Siri Suggestions & Privacy on the right, click News on the left, then turn off Show Siri Suggestions in App to stop Siri suggestions in News. Turn off Learn from this App to stop Siri from using what it learns in News to make suggestions across apps.
