Remove a device in Find My on Mac
If you’re no longer using an Apple device, you can temporarily remove it from Find My. If you’re planning to give it away or sell it, you can turn off Activation Lock and remove it from Find My.
Remove a device from the Devices list
If you’re not using a device, you can temporarily remove it from your account so it doesn’t show up in your Devices list. When the device goes online again, it reappears in the list.
Turn off the device, or put AirPods or the Beats product in their case.
In the Find My app on your Mac, click Devices.
In the Devices list, select the device you want to remove.
Click the Info button on the map, then click Remove This Device.
Note: You can also Control-click the device in the Devices list, then choose Remove this Device.
If you remove an iPhone Leather Wallet with Find My support from the Devices List, someone else can connect it to their Apple ID.
Turn off Activation Lock on the Mac you’re using
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Apple ID , then do one of the following:
Click Overview in the sidebar, then click Sign Out.
Signing out of iCloud turns off all iCloud features on the device. See If you sign out of your Apple ID preferences.
Click iCloud in the sidebar, then deselect Find My Mac to remove your Mac.
Turn off Activation Lock on a device you no longer have
If you sold or gave away your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or Apple Watch and you forgot to turn off Find My [device], you can still remove Activation Lock using the Find My app.
In the Find My app on your Mac, click Devices.
In the Devices list, select the device you want to remove.
If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it connects to a Wi-Fi or mobile network. You receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click the Info button on the map, then click Remove This Device.
Note: You can also Control-click the device in the Devices list, then choose Remove this Device.
If you still have the device, see the Apple Support articles for full details about preparing to sell, give away or trade in your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple Watch.
For information about using Find My with other devices, see the user guide for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch or AirPods.
