Start an Apple Fitness workout
You can start an Apple Fitness workout from your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. Apple Fitness workouts are for all levels, so you can challenge yourself whether you’re just starting out or repeating your favorite workouts. After starting a workout, you can pause and resume at any time, and review the workout after it ends.
Start a workout on iPhone or iPad
Open the Fitness app. Then, if you’re on your iPhone, tap Fitness .
If you don’t have the Fitness app on your device, you can download it from the App Store.
Select a workout type at the top of the screen, then select a workout, or select a workout from one of the categories (like Popular or Guest Trainer Series).

Do any of the following:
Add the workout to My Workouts: Tap .
Preview the workout: Tap Preview.
You can also see the playlist for the workout. If you subscribe to Apple Music, tap Listen in Music to open the playlist in Apple Music.
Start the workout: Tap the button that begins the workout, then tap on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. If you’re starting a Treadmill workout, choose Run or Walk to get the most accurate metrics.
If you’re not wearing your Apple Watch, you can still start the workout, but your metrics (like calories burned) aren’t collected. Tap Work Out Without Watch to start the workout.
To stream your workout to an AirPlay 2.0 compatible device such as a TV or HomePod, tap the screen during a workout, tap , then choose a destination.

In all workouts, additional trainers demonstrate modifications of the exercises to help you make the workout easier or more advanced. Trainers may also offer directions on how to modify an exercise, such as doing the movement with bodyweight instead of a dumbbell.
Start a workout on Apple TV
Open the Fitness app, then choose who is working out.

Select a workout type, then choose a workout, or choose a workout from one of the categories.

Do any of the following:
Preview the workout: Select Preview.
Start the workout: Select the free trial button if you havenʼt subscribed, or click the button to begin the workout if youʼre a subscriber.
If you’re starting a Treadmill workout, choose Run or Walk to get the most accurate metrics.
Play featured songs from the workout in Music: Navigate down to the list of songs, then select a song to open the workout playlist in the Music app (Apple Music subscription required).
Browse related workouts: Navigate down to the Related Workouts row, then navigate left or right to browse another workout.
Pause and resume a workout
You can pause a workout from the device playing the workout, or your Apple Watch.
On Apple Watch, do any of the following:
Pause a workout: Press the side button and the Digital Crown at the same time. You can also swipe left or right, then tap the Pause button .
Resume a workout: Press the side button and the Digital Crown at the same time, swipe right and tap Resume, or swipe left and tap the Play button .
On iPhone or iPad, do any of the following:
Pause a workout: Tap the screen, then tap the Pause button .
Resume a workout: Tap the Play button .
On Apple TV:
Pause or resume a workout: Press the clickpad center (second-generation Siri Remote) or the touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote). On the Siri Remote, press the Play/Pause button .
End and review a workout
You can end a workout from the device playing the workout, or your Apple Watch.
On Apple Watch: Swipe right, then tap End.
Your workout summary is displayed. Tap Done to return to the Workout app.
On iPhone or iPad: Tap , then tap End Workout.
Your workout summary is displayed. Tap to add the workout to My Workouts, tap to share your workout, tap Mindful Cooldown to choose a cooldown workout, or tap Done to return to Apple Fitness .
On Apple TV: Press the button on the Siri Remote/Apple TV Remote, then select End Workout.
Your workout summary is displayed. Select Mindful Cooldown to choose a cooldown workout, or select Done to return to Apple Fitness .
You can view your workout summary again later in the Fitness app on iPhone.
After you’ve taken a class, it appears in the list of workouts with on the thumbnail.
