What’s new in tvOS 17 for Apple TV
Here are some of the new features and enhancements in the latest version of tvOS. Not all features and content are available in all countries or regions.
Pin your favorite channels and apps in the Apple TV app (tvOS 17.5). You can pin your favorite channels and apps so that they’re always at the top of the list in the sidebar. See Reorder channels and apps in the sidebar.
Listen Now is now Home in the Music and Podcasts apps (tvOS 17.4). Home is where to find recently played and personalized music and podcasts picked just for you. See Home: See recommended music and Get podcasts.
Control autoplay for videos in the Apple TV app (tvOS 17.4). You can decide whether or not the next episode or trailer plays automatically in the Apple TV app. See Adjust Apple TV app settings.
Redesigned Apple TV app (tvOS 17.2). The Apple TV app has a new look:
Find all your favorite channels, apps, and content using the new dynamic sidebar.
Find everything you love from iTunes in the redesigned Store.
The Watch Now screen is now called Home.
Answer FaceTime calls and make FaceTime audio calls (tvOS 17.2). Now you can answer incoming FaceTime video and audio calls and make FaceTime audio calls on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). See Use FaceTime on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later).
Fitness now includes Audio Focus and Custom Plan improvements (tvOS 17.2). Hear more of what motivates you, whether it’s the trainer’s voice or the music. Voice Search in apps (tvOS 17.2). Press the Siri button on the Siri Remote to dictate a search from the Home Screen, or in supported apps like the Apple TV app and Music. See Use Siri dictation on Apple TV.
Enhance Dialogue for HomePod and HomePod mini (tvOS 17.1). Tired of missing the dialogue in your movies and TV shows? Now you can turn on Enhance Dialogue to emphasize vocals in the audio mix. See Turn on Enhance Dialogue for HomePod or HomePod mini with Apple TV 4K.
New and improved Control Center. The new Control Center gives you easy access to user profiles, settings, and controls on Apple TV. See Control Center at a glance.
FaceTime app for Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). For the first time ever, you can enjoy the popular FaceTime app on your TV for even more engaging conversations with family and friends. See FaceTime app at a glance.

Memories as your screen saver. Enjoy some of your favorite moments with fluid animations and transitions as a screen saver on Apple TV. See Create a photo screen saver on Apple TV.
Siri Remote location. If your Siri Remote (2nd generation or later) gets misplaced, use Control Center on your iPhone to help you find it. See Use your iPhone to help locate the Siri Remote (2nd generation or later).

Personalized routines in the Fitness app. Create your own routine by grouping workouts or meditations in a stack. You can also use the Fitness app on your iPhone to create custom workout plans, then track them on Apple TV. Both Stacks and Custom Plans appear in your library in the Fitness app on Apple TV. Dolby Vision 8.1 support offers Apple TV 4K users a more cinematic visual experience over a broader range of movies and TV shows.
Continuity Camera support on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) lets developers integrate the iPhone or iPad camera and microphone into their tvOS apps to create new shared and immersive entertainment experiences for the living room.
New aerial screen savers feature a collection of stunning new locations, including Arizona’s Monument Valley and California’s coastal redwoods.
Third-party VPN support lets developers create VPN apps for Apple TV.
The Siri Remote (2nd generation or later) now supports enhanced scrolling with the clickpad ring. See Scroll lists.
