What is Family Sharing on Mac?
With Family Sharing, you and up to five other family members can share subscriptions to Apple services like Apple Music, Apple TV , iCloud , Apple Fitness , Apple News , and Apple Arcade. Your family group can also share iTunes Store, App Store, and Apple Books purchases, an iCloud storage plan, and a family photo album. You can even help locate each other’s missing devices.
One adult—the family organizer—sets up Family Sharing, invites up to five family members to join the group, and chooses the features the family can share. When family members join, they have instant access to the shared content.
Each family member needs an Apple ID and must be signed in with their Apple ID to access Family settings. The organizer, a parent, or a guardian can add a child to the group and create an Apple ID for them.
Note: Family Sharing is designed to be used by a single family (adults and children). You can be part of only one Family Sharing group at a time.
Family Sharing is available on Mac computers (OS X 10.10 or later), iOS devices (iOS 8 or later), iPadOS devices, and Windows computers with iCloud for Windows (Windows 7 or later required).
