Adjust basic privacy settings in Shortcuts on Mac
To protect your data and privacy, the Shortcuts app has default security settings that you can adjust.
Give a shortcut access to required data
When you run a shortcut, the Shortcuts app requests access to necessary data.
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, run a shortcut.
If a Privacy dialogue appears requesting access to data, choose Allow Once, Always Allow or Don’t Allow.
If you choose Always Allow, the Shortcuts app won’t ask you for access the next time you run the shortcut.
Remove a shortcut’s access to data
If you previously chose Always Allow when a shortcut requested access to necessary data, you can override that decision.
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, double-click a shortcut.
The shortcut editor opens.
Click to open Details.
Click Privacy.
Note: If you don’t see the Privacy tab, the shortcut does not have access to your data.
Unselect an option — for example, Location or Safari.
To remove access to all data for this shortcut, click Reset Privacy.
Allow sharing large amounts of data
Some shortcuts require access to large amounts of data. To enable these shortcuts, you must turn on a special setting.
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, choose Shortcuts > Settings from the menu bar (at the top of the screen).
Click Advanced, then select Allow Sharing Large Amounts of Data.
Allow private sharing of shortcuts on Mac
You can receive shortcuts directly from people in your contacts through AirDrop, Messages and more. However, because these third-party shortcuts are considered “untrusted”, you must first enable shared shortcuts in settings.
WARNING: Apple cannot verify the authenticity or behaviour of shortcuts shared privately. Always verify shortcuts you receive from contacts.
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, choose Shortcuts > Settings from the menu bar (at the top of the screen).
In the General pane, select Private Sharing.
Enable shortcuts to appear in the macOS share sheet
Before you can run a shortcut from the share sheet, you must first enable shortcuts in macOS Privacy & Security settings.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Extensions > Sharing.
Select Shortcuts, then tap Done.
