Sonic Rivals is a part of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is one of the most recent, and the first on the PSP (as well as the first Sonic game not to be released in Japan). This is a hybrid racing game, with elements of platformer and action adventure genres mixed in. Like most Sonic games, there are a number of playable characters, several levels, called Zones, and a competitive multiplayer mode where cards collected from single player story and challenge modes can be bet on the outcome. The goal of each level is to reach the end before the other character, by jostling, using powerups to slow them down, shortcuts, or by good old fashioned speed.
