Parts requirements[edit | edit source]

After beating one of the eight main bosses at level 4 or higher, you'll be given the options "Weapon Life" and "Weapon Energy". Pick one to get either a Life Up or an Energy Up.

However, if the boss was on level 8 or higher, you instead get "Weapon Life " and "Weapon Energy " options. Then you get an additional Part along with the Life Up or Energy Up. The Part you get depends on which option you pick; this means you can't get all 16 Parts in one playthrough.

The most Parts you can get is 8, and for that you'll have to waste time at the beginning. The bosses' levels rise as the countdown progresses, so you'll have to enter stages and deliberately lose all your lives, not fighting any bosses until the first boss's level reaches 8. That means you'll have to cut it close to stop the collision. Also, once you've earned a Part, you still won't actually get it until two hours (i.e. stages) later.

Parts list[edit | edit source]

The color of the icons has a specific meaning:

  • Green parts are the basic ones, that improve energy bars;
  • Blue parts improve mobility;
  • Purple parts improve energy and defense;
  • Red parts improve attack.

P - Shock Buffer Life Crescent Grizzly (Grizzly Slash) This decreases the amount of damage taken by half, and keeps you from being knocked back after taking a hit.
B - Hyper Dash Energy Crescent Grizzly (Grizzly Slash) This increases the dash intensity of your character, but reduces your dash duration.
P - Super Recover Life Tidal Whale (Duff McWhalen) This makes life and weapon refill capsules restore twice as much energy as normal.
P - W-Energy Saver Energy Tidal Whale (Duff McWhalen) This makes your special weapons use half as much energy.
R - Quick Charge Life Volt Kraken (Squid Adler) (X only) This makes the X-Buster charge twice as fast.
R - Z-Saber Extend Energy Volt Kraken (Squid Adler) (Zero only) This makes the Z-Saber project a small crescent wave in front of it to increase its range.
R - Burst Shots Life Shining Firefly (Izzy Glow) (X only) This allows you to have 5 buster shots on-screen at once instead of 3.
R - Shot Eraser Energy Shining Firefly (Izzy Glow) (Zero only) This enables the Z-Saber to block most enemy shots.
P - Anti-Virus Guard Life Dark Necrobat (Dark Dizzy) This makes you twice as resistant to Sigma Virus infection.
P - Virus Buster Energy Dark Necrobat (Dark Dizzy) This enables your standard weapons to destroy Sigma Virus drones.
B - Jumper Life Spiral Pegasus (The Skiver) This makes your character jump higher and further.
B - Speedster Energy Spiral Pegasus (The Skiver) This makes your character run faster and jump further.
R - Speed Shot Life Burn Dinorex (Mattrex) This makes the X-Buster or Z-Buster's shots go faster.
R - Buster Plus Energy Burn Dinorex (Mattrex) This makes the X-Buster or Z-Buster do more damage.
R - Ultimate Buster Life Spike Rosered (Axle the Red) (X only) This makes every shot you fire fully charged, including special weapons (if you're using an armor that allows charging special weapons).
R - Z-Saber Plus Energy Spike Rosered (Axle the Red) (Zero only) This makes the Z-Saber do more damage.

Calculation of Mavericks levels[edit | edit source]

In order to get parts, it is necessary that the Mavericks are at least at level 8. This section helps calculating how many hours must elapse to raise the Mavericks levels

The level of a maverick depends on three factors:

  1. a hours factor: the less hour are left, the higher the level;
  2. a victories factor: the more mavericks have been defeated, the higher the level of the remaining ones;
  3. a rank factor: if the player character has a rank higher than "A", the maverick levels is further increased.

If the 16 hours run out, or if the Earth is saved, the maverick levels will still keep increasing with time.

In the table below it is assumed that X, who starts at rank "B", keeps a "B" or "A" rank. If the Enigma cannon fails (after beating four mavericks), X will have to launch the shuttle before it is completed, or he will fail saving the Earth.

Zero's starting rank is "SA", and that means all Mavericks get a 2 bonus on their level (if he keeps that rank). Therefore, Zero has better chances to collect eight parts and still save the Earth.

It is also possible to defeat the first Maverick at -11 hours using Zero, and then collect eight parts alternating freely X and Zero for the rest of the game. In fact, the availability of parts depends only on the Maverick level.
