Cairns Guide

Simple descriptions and screenshots of the locations of all cairns in the game. Currently just have all those from Denmark, cairns in Britain will be added as they are found. If you somehow don't already know, each cairn found will give you a free skill point for all characters. There are two Steam achievements associated with these cairns, one for finding all of them in Denmark and another for finding all of them in Britain.

If you're having trouble seeing what you're supposed to be clicking on, try holding down "alt". This will make all interactable objects, including the cairns, highlight on your screen.

No major plot details will be mentioned in this guide, but in order to facilitate helping you reach each location the names of certain characters and certain locations will be mentioned without further warning. If you are one of those people with the extremely peculiar sensitivity about learning absolutely anything about a particular piece of media in any way other than reading/watching/playing it yourself, then there may be some slight triggering. You may want to consider avoiding games with historical settings and guides to games in general. Or re-evaluate what you actually think is important about playing them.

Denmark

This should probably be the first one you find, it's in your village by the graves on the eastern edge of the screen.

This one is on the premises of the Erlingr farm.

This one is in the forest near Skjern.

These two are near the burial mound in the eastern village.

These three can be found in Ribe.

Found in the Ribe swamp.

Britain

Found in Perth.

Found in Scarborough.

Found in York.

This one is located in Yngilwood. The only way I know of to unlock this location is to be invited there by Wada in York, which as far as I know always happens after meeting with/confronting King Osden. There might be other ways to unlock it, so let me know if you're aware of any.

This cairn is located on the premises of the ruined Roman fort. As far as I know, the only way to unlock this location is by accepting the quest from the Bishop in York. Wada will ask you to undertake that quest on his behalf after you meet him in Yngilwood, but I don't know if it's possible to take it otherwise.

Old Mac Daimnall had a farm, ee-aye-ee-aye-oh. And on that farm he had a cairn, ee-aye-ee-aye-oh.

This location is part of a quest you accept from Caustantin, in a manner of speaking.

This is at Seahenge. It's a very small area with very little in it, so it's very easy to find the cairn, but to unlock the location you'll need to take the second quest from Caustantin, the Pictish King.

This cairn is in the corner of the map of the Roadside Camp, which you must visit during the quest "The Mercian Connection", the second quest you get from Wada.

This cairn will be found in the Swamp map. Regardless of what choice you want to make about how to complete the quest, you'll be directed here immediately following the Roadside Camp during "The Mercian Connection", and as far as I know this is the only way to unlock this location.

Found at Lindisfarne. The only way to get here is through the associated quest, which will be given during a camp event after your power reaches 50.

Found during "A Gaelic Alliance", a quest done for Caustantin.

Found in the fishing village, during "The Final Expedition".

Found by the river outside the walls of Dun Phris. You'll unlock this location during the main quest.

Good guide! Unfortunately incomplete though.
Like berry2032 mentioned can the last missing cairn be found at Hadrian's wall.

Sorry for leaving this guide unfinished for so long people. I'm replaying the game now and scouring Britain to get whichever ones I missed.

I got it!!! There is one at hardin's wall. It's past the entrance to the wall up the path.

I was actually doing that in the beginning but I found that it somehow didn't make it into the screenshots. Then I tried highlighting just the cairns by mousing over them, but that didn't work, either. Finally I had to settle for just standing right next to them, but I understand it's difficult to see them in some of the shots. Maybe I'll try fiddling with saturation.

Just make sure to press alt so all the objects are highlighted.
