old jank game peak

Use to play this with a friend and it was super fun. I highly recommend if you have people to play with but its also nice to find people on the game to play with. It does have a battle pass but thats completely free infact you can't even pay for it. The only DLC content are some cosmetic packs but a lil pricey.

If you like running around a map for 10 minutes looking for a tele this game is for you.
If you like lack of polish in a remaster this game is for you.
If you HAVEN'T played risk of rain 2 this game might be for you.
If you like having characters who aren't too unique this game is for you.

In all honestly the game was probably good back then but it didn't age well. They should of just focused ROR2 content and simply add more gamemodes or more characters. To people WHO did like ROR I'm sure you'll find some enjoyment in this.

So after giving this game a fair chance by going through the entire games heists I sadly don't find any value in this compared to older games. Realistically a lot of older games such as payday 2 hold up really well for even cheaper... Sure this game might improve but with the fact that they did such a low effort job releasing a game still in beta/unfinished I think money is becoming a priority over anything else.

I do believe that it has some sort of value but payday 2 holds more value at the crazy 1 dollar price when its on sale. You will literally get more out of that than payday 3 at a insane 40 dollars. The game also has a good soundtrack with new enemies and of course new missions. The new stealth mechanics are good but nothing too crazy. Overkill weapons are a nice idea to give players a big boost of fire power but I don't like the grenade launcher. It also of course feels more fresh and smooth with other movement mechanics and i think an upgraded engine. I will say the new enemies do seem very cool even updated ones. Missions have new and cool mechanics but not too many. Lock picking is very nice now and takes a bit of thought as well as being faster if done properly. Hostage taking is a very nice mechanic allowing you to buy time while your team is working on the heist's steps.

What sucks is i believe tho the negatives out weigh the positives here. Of course everyone knows this game pretty much released unplayable due to the failed "only online". By far one of their worst greedy mistakes and simply experiencing it first hand is awful. If you wanna pause because you need to do something well too bad its fully online even in solo. They do have solo for training yet they dont like you use it in heists... The game also just has clear issues during the gameplay due to only online. quite a few times my shots wouldn't register which was really bad when it happened multiple times on the same target. This was also on overkill and very hard where I kind of need to play perfectly and the game robbed me. Mentioning the gameplay in terms of getting a mission done its not very fun in terms of surviving. They boiled it down to two health bars now with only armor and health basically working the same way only armor CAN regen but most likely wont... Speed doesn't really matter as it only provides speed which anyone would rather go heavy for more armor and just head out when the assault is over. Overkill weapons are what i thought to be good but the downside is you have to enter a area where you are really vulnerable and in the open. Not to mention explosives in this game are too punishing but i suppose you can waste skill points to slightly help. This makes the grenade launcher really garbage because if u need to hit someone within 12 feet and just either way leads to you taking damage. If you try to run you will waste time getting shot at and if you try to switch weapons you will waste time throwing it down. What really works is just keeping your primary or secondary equipped so you can instantly SHOOT them. There is some use of course but more time than not its a weapon that causes you problems. The skill tree is again pretty bad not really being enough of an impact on the gameplay only in stealth and also only has defense mixed with attack being the only viable build. Quite literally no special play styles like payday 2 had.

The leveling in this game is so slow and so weirdly setup that i dont wanna do it. Weapons take forever to level and you dont even get that much of a benefit from it. The only noticable benefit i got from a weapon is putting a sight on... Thats really pathetic weapon customization when your attachments dont make the guns feel any better aside from the sight. Leveing to unlock more items also just sucks because you have to do very weirdly specific challenges. You no longer level from just doing heists not even a little. If you wanted to do harder difficulties for more rewards well theres no point because harder difficulties only give more money which you get plenty of. Theres nothing in this game that has ran me out of money and I don't even grab all the loot. So if the leveling is so slow and meaningless as most things i unlock i dont use its kind of stupid. So im in a situation when im leveling to unlock things i dont really care about and the process is too slow and boring for me to wanna get the things that do matter. The replay ability in this game is almost non existent aside from doing stealth.

The worst part of this game i feel is the UI and the story. The story mainly feels too forced and the cutscenes are awfully jaring in whats happening in them. Shade as a character just feels forced into it with everyone instantly loving her because she "saved you and got you weapons". It just feels pretty cringy and stylized. In payday 2 things just worked together really well and the story didn't need these weird cutscenes you just listened to everything while setting up your loadout and playing the heist. The UI is probably the worst as its lost its style in so many ways. This game just has the modern day minimum look to it which too much space and nothing special really going on. Payday 2 gave off a feeling of a heist setup type menu where they had chalk writing and just things really tied to heisting. The thing is many of my friends who have truly played a lot of payday 2 just don't really feel like payday 3 is anything special or that much of an improvement. No one who loves payday 2 is really going to go to payday 3 and love it. I suppose it works well for people new to the game as nothings really that deep but there goes a lot of the playtime.

All in all i get people say payday 2 had it the same way but you know what? They did that as a smaller company being less known with not too much to go off of. Of course it was rough it makes sense. They just simply had less but still did good. Now a days they have so much to go off of we just needed a payday 2 with better mechanics and improved feeling. In fact i believe it needs a whole lot more to even do anything for people who loved payday 2. Why would i go to this new game simply because it feels fresh when there is literally nothing and its more overpriced. I can easily get 10 times more content from payday 2 and the dlcs at a lower price... I don't know i just don't want to wait years for this game to even manage to level its self up to what payday 2 is and i DOUBT that it can manage that seeing as its only online and looking towards micro transactions.

I think I did enjoy my few hours but the honeymoon phase is over and I think i will continue to play payday 2 as i can no longer trust games to be of quality anymore. Nothing is being improved and we will always see these junky unfinished games being released to then be beta tested after the beta test... I don't really regret to have bought it but I dont recommend it to anyone and at least i get to see the final embers of payday as it turns to just another game studio looking to make money...

Its fun but has too much grind mainly wanting you to spend money in buying parts and of course all the battle pass/shop garbage. Game should be free if theres gonna be so much paid content and even p2w stuff. At most this is worth 20$
