I'm really trying here. I really am, but I just can't. I have thousands of hours in Snow Runner, but this game... it just isn't fun. At all.

They should remove the Mud Runner branding from this game. It has absolutely nothing to do with Mud Runner. It's just a marketing ploy to get you to buy it.

I will compare it to Snow Runner, because it is more similar to that, than anything else. First of all, the control layout is completely reversed from Snow Runner, and a PITA to get used to. Everything in Snow Runner that uses the LB now uses the RB and vice versa. Functions are now left and right arrows instead of up arrow.

The tire pressure is great. It's helpful. The tires seem to have more grip on the rocks than they do in Snow Runner. I like that as well. The trucks don't roll over as much as they do in Snow Runner, and they seem more weighty.

The maps leave a lot to be desired. I'm just not feeling connected to them. The UI is a complete disaster. It's such a PITA to do anything. Repairing my truck takes multiple steps, loading parts from a storage into my truck, repairing, loading more parts, repairing again, until the truck is fully repaired. The truck I'm using has several hundred repair points, but I can only hold 30 at a time. So I need to keep restocking over and over.

Now that I've been playing this for about 7 hours today, I am getting used to the controls, but the quests are just boring. I have no interest in them at all. They aren't fun. I don't feel like I'm making any changes to the maps at all. Unlike Snow Runner where I could feel the progression as I slowly completed the region. I can't feel the progression at all in this game.

Every time I complete something, I get taken back to the menu, which breaks the immersion. I don't feel a connection with my trucks in this game. In Snow Runner, I felt like I was building a fleet of trucks. In this game, I don't feel anything. I have no desire to get the upgrades, or even complete the quests because they're just... boring. I use the same truck for every mission because I have no desire to customize or buy anything else.

Several times, I've completed a quest, and at the end sat there and said "That's it? How stupid". I had to go scan fish in a pond. I felt like it was leading up to something else. No, that's it. Just go scan some fish then go back to the menu. Why the hell am I scanning fish?

I really want to like the game. I want to at least finish the stuff I paid for, and not buy any more DLC or year passes, but I just don't know if I can force myself to do it.

This game is like a bad relationship. I feel like I should continue, because I've already invested money into it, but at the same time, it's boring and frustrating, and I just want it to be over.

Edit: One other thing. You can't start expeditions and come back later to finish. If I leave the game in the middle of an expedition, I return to the menu. When I come back to the game later. I have lost all progress and need to start over. Forcing you to complete the entire thing in one go, is terrible. That doesn't happen in Snow Runner. You can quit at any time, and come back exactly where you left off.
