I believe the goal of any piece of media it to make the viewer truly feel something.

OMORI is that belief realised in full force by every metric; It's artwork and general style is incredible and carries a level of absurdity which is befitting of the stories themes and setting but also allows you to become immersed in the sillier aspects of the game, this allows for its darker themes to hit harder and be more striking via contrast with the whimsical characters and areas of Headspace.

The game communicates its themes and story beautifully over its runtime both in subtle and overt ways when needed, this made every moment in the game feel like it demanded my attention and thus it was more engaging.

It's clear to see where OMORI wears it's inspirations on it's sleeve, games like UNDERTALE and thus Earthbound seem to have greatly influenced the game's production and it's nice to see that recognised in a way by Toby Fox contributing to a minor musical piece within the game - its also clear though that some of the abstract imagery from late into the game is also inspired by the classic Yume Nikki, which is always a pleasure to see.

OMORI features an incredible OST composed of heavily varied songs both classical and electric in nature - the song "DUET" in particular stands out as being both an incredible song, but also an incredible way to mesh that with the game's storytelling, which it does often to great effect.

I went into OMORI apprehensive as to why it was as popular as it is and why it had garnered the cult fanbase that it has, I am leaving OMORI with it being probably one of my favourite games of all time. Need I say more.
